What's the betting they think that "discipline" = "smacking" and nothing else

Oh I don't know...they will probably discuss children running riot round cafes but I agree that they will probably equate "discipline" with being harsh and overly strict rather than just being guidance.
Not sure I have the energy to turn on to watch it TBH

Sorry not loose women, whatever rubbish is on ITV now. Just get fed up when "discussions" on TV/radio/etc about discipline always seem to centre on smacking as though it is the only form of discipline - there are lots of interesting topics related to discipline, why don't they ever discuss anything else?

Actually I take it back - they are being quite sensible

I guess they would think anything else would be too boring. They won't get heated debate if they don't bring up smacking whereas if they talk about disciplining children through reasoning and consistent parental guidance they will be greeted with glazed stares

If it's something on ITV I would bet that at least one person says they used to get the slipper when they were younger and it never did them any harm....

of course the BBC would never say such a thing

displayuntilbestbefore · 18/02/2010 12:22

the media and any tv channel would say anything that gets the viewers
I didn't mean to put the I in that - was just supposed to say

"If it's something on TV..."

well spotted southeastastra

oh sorry and me getting all indignant about it

displayuntilbestbefore · 18/02/2010 12:31

I'd have done the same tbh if I'd seen it

although I do think ITV are quite often more sensationalist than BBC..even their news bulletins have to have the dramatic dongs at each headline
