Just thought I'd share for the sahms or people with later work start times.

When I get home from school run, I make myself a cup of coffee, get a bowl of muesli or porridge, and settle down in front of "Heir Hunters" on beeb 1. It really is interesting, actually .

Sometimes I catch myself watching all the way through to 10am.

It's good isn't it

Slartybartfast · 21/01/2010 19:42

doctors, so bad its good. and only 20 minutes of shame.

Slartybartfast · 21/01/2010 19:43

heir hunters. that is so crass

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/01/2010 19:52

Oi Slarty, I had to watch Doctors once because my brother was in it (SHAME) and I just ... am ... was ... speechless, really.

Excuse me but what is crass about Heir Hunters? Tis a quality programme.

So what if these companies are ambulance- chasers-after-the-fact? The family histories are v. interesting, actually!

lets see if heir hunters ever makes prime time shall we

hope your brother got paid for his shame time

FuriousGeorge · 21/01/2010 20:15

I've been off work for a month due to the snow,so have caught up with my sewing, whilst watching daytime tv.I'd walk back from the school bus, make a cup of tea and watch Heir Hunters whist enjoying a leisurely breakfast. When 'a New life Downunder'came on,I'd do the washing up,hoovering ect, then stop for a cup of tea and a biscuit when 'Cash in the Attic' came on.

I'm glad to be back at work TBH.

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/01/2010 20:30

I reckon Heir Hunters would beat Doctors in a fight any day.

Slarty, do you remember a recent episode involving a student date rapist? The smarmy one you were supposed to think was the rapist but actually wasn't? - that was my little brother that was [ashamed emoticon].

crikey, where do you live george?

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/01/2010 20:31

FG, you were getting your timings wrong!

Cup of tea and biscuit at Homes Under The Hammer time and you'd have been handing in your notice lickety-split.

so disappointed bibbity,,, might catch it on iplayer??
have only watche it about twice

Alambil · 21/01/2010 20:33

Heir hunters don't chase ambulances - they try to find the heirs of unclaimed estates to stop them going to the Treasury (I think)

Slartybartfast · 21/01/2010 20:35

i bet its full of conmen watching though.
arent the obituary pages the favourite page for conmen?

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/01/2010 20:36

They do Lewis. Its interesting.

(But they are still making ghoulish money out of dead people are they not? Tis a bit vulturish)

pointy,I live in Leicestershire, but I'm a gardener,so can't work with everything covered in snow.I haven't had this much time off since DD2 was a baby.

Bibbitybobbityhat-I thought I'd got it the wrong way round,We don't seen to have Homes Under The Hammer anymore, and I used to like that too.I'm my own boss luckily,so anytime is biscuit time, which could explain the stone I've put on whilst not being at work.

FuriousGeorge · 22/01/2010 21:47

Actually,Cash in the Attic may have educated me.I was watching them sort through people's houses and pondering the fact that they'd have a pretty thin time of it at my house, when I remembered a framed print in our bedroom.I bought it in a job lot in an auction 20 odd years ago,but was never that fond of it.It still has the sticker for the original gallery on the back and a bit of the backing paper has come away.I got it down and had a good look at it and it isn't a print,it is a watercolour.I googled the gallery and found it was a very high class place in the 19th century and stocked around 200 watercolours at any one time.I can't read the signature as it is below the frame and I don't want to damage it.

Luckily I know a guy who is an agent for an auctioneers and valuers and he is going to take it to their painting specialist and see if they can find out anything about it.If it is worth anything I will sell it,as I don't particularly like it much.
