I think corrie has really stepped up a gear with this storyline. It being dealt with so well, all the scenes between the family are so touching.

I agree. Especially when she was taken in for surgery, seemed very realistic. And the sense of uncertainty too. Well done Corrie.

For the first time since I started watching it I'm actually feeling sorry for Sally. Apparently she did a lot of research and met up with women going through it.

And on an unrelated note, is it just me or can Dev not act for toffee?

Monadami · 16/01/2010 19:14

Dev has always been wooden and has the same facial expressions for most things.

jeminthecellar · 16/01/2010 19:18

I agree, about the storyline, and about Devs acting

cheapskatemum · 16/01/2010 22:41

And why does he get the lothario storylines? He's also ugly (IMHO).

Pennies · 17/01/2010 21:03

How is she doing? I can't face watching it at the moment because I am in the very same boat as her (our timings match exactly) and I just can't bear to watch it. Did she get the results from her operation?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 17/01/2010 21:05

oh Pennies, that must be rough. i hope that things are clear for you soon.

Pennies · 17/01/2010 21:07

Thanks Aitch. Had the first bit of good news in a month last week so we're enjoying that at the moment!

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 17/01/2010 21:08

keep up the good work.

AnyFucker · 17/01/2010 21:11

never mind dev

Sally's storyline, and the family's acting, are brilliant

pennies, good luck with your tests and any treatment x

Cobblers · 17/01/2010 21:13

When I was watching it the other night I was wondering how it mightmake you (one) feel if you were going through it too. And no, she hasn't had the results yet unless I missed a bit.

Dev wouldn't make my shag list either.

kittya · 18/01/2010 10:01

My relative is in exactly the same boat at the same time as well. They are all playing it so well. I only hope Molly doesnt turn psycho.

luckylou · 18/01/2010 10:11

Pennies, no she hasn't had her results yet. I'm sorry you're in the same boat, and hope your treatment's going well.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago; I was diagnosed at Christmas too.

Most programmes with breast cancer storylines I've seen since have been terrible; the Holby storyline a few years back made me spit.

But I've been impressed and moved by the way Coronation Street is handling this story, and by Sally Whittaker's acting. I've found myself in tears several times.

I know the makers of the programme consulted Breast Cancer Care about the storyline, including about the likelihood of receiving a diagnosis on Christmas Eve. It seems that so far they have paid attention to BCC's advice.

luckylou · 18/01/2010 10:31

Oh, and I'm hoping they might show Sally's girls being worried about their chances of breast cancer, so that it can be explained that a) breast cancer is rarely hereditary and b) it's mainly a disease of older women, with 80% of women diagnosed being over 50 and fewer than 0.1% under 30 (Sally herself is young for breast cancer, at 42).
