Doesn't Annie Lennox look fab in those jeans

moondog · 02/07/2005 17:49

lolhmb at comment re The Quo. Read an interview in which they were (cos it'sreally only Rick and Francis isn't it?) compared to a happily married elderly couple.

God I sound churlish but I've worked out what it is about it all that grates slightly. It's the conscious effort to create a moment which is the curse of this time. Being too aware of the moment and how it will look in retrospect instead of just enjoying it (in a way almost like people frantically videoing something instead of savouring the moment.)

I don't need to be told by some bimbette that this ir that is 'truly 'istoric'
I'lldecide that myself, with the rest of the human race in about twenty years' time thank you.

happymerryberries · 02/07/2005 17:53

now ms lennox, there is a girl that can sing! Ballsey choice, 'sweet dreams'

flashingnose · 02/07/2005 17:53

Haven't read the whole thread so sorry if repeating - what is the matter with the audience? Good grief, I've seen more atmosphere down my local pub.

At least have the good grace to look enthusiastic if you're lucky enough to be there .

turquoise · 02/07/2005 17:54

Wasn't Annie Lennox fantastic!

emily05 · 02/07/2005 17:55

Freddy, we need your spirit! Smile down on them and give them some 'oomph'' will you?

flashingnose · 02/07/2005 17:58

The audience seems to be peopled with those who really should be at Homebase on a Saturday afternoon. Where's the jumping up and down??

Has Bob been on to give them a rocket yet?

moondog · 02/07/2005 17:59

Oh I know I'm a jaded old cow sobernow!!
Seriously,t's great and moving and inspirationl and all that, just don't need to be reminded of it all the time by goons!
We used to have a wonderfully understated and dignified sense of occasion, not, as you put it so well, a contrived one.

Bitching over. I love those little fellas in Keane! Look like earnest public school boys I used to get hot and bothered with last time 'round! (Live Aid)

happymerryberries · 02/07/2005 18:01

i enjoyed keane as well. made me feel rather protective! bless!

Ahhh UB40, great song!!!

emily05 · 02/07/2005 18:07

they called Keane 'unimportant and irrelevant'. Apparently Keane get a lot of stick from other bands (bless them). But still Keanes album was the biggest selling album last year, so that speaks for itself

fishfinger · 02/07/2005 18:08

yes so they sold about 3 copies porbably
doesnt take much htese days ( ditto jewish grandmother)

happymerryberries · 02/07/2005 18:09

moondog · 02/07/2005 18:11

I thought Green Day were sort of Nirvana-ish. Slacker types with bleached hair and Converse trainers. Got a bit of a shock when I saw that
Nazi/Kraftwerk look.....
