Why do they have to be so banal - at least for the last four episodes i've watched. Admittedly they only seem to have one token women per round.

So far we've had:
The books of Narnia (not too bad)
Gavin and Stacey
Frasier
Harry Potter

Tis a bit embarrassing compared to some of the other subjects.

Anyone else noticed this?

Oh, and they so tailor the general knowledge round to each contestant .

Not seen it. Are the mens topics all super intellectual then, not "spurs top goal scorers 1982-1983" or whatever.

ilovepiccolina · 06/01/2010 19:28

Yes, I've noticed that they tailor the questions. ~I think they do that anyway, so maybe it's just that they've made the question easier. Slebs being too busy jetseting to swot up, or something. Or perhaps not known for their intelligence, generally.

I can't say I've noticed that the women's specialist subjectsa are more banal than the men's. I can only remember Bond villains and Vampire in films, neither of them exactly the Works of Wittgenstein sort of level.

But - I feel a thread coming on - what wpould be your specialist subject???? Mine would be .... er ..... er.... probably have to be Coronation St !!

I've created a new thread. I haven't nicked your idea, honest. Just developed it!

MistleSnail · 06/01/2010 19:35

Tis fine - mine was a moan anyway

I do think there's something in the fact that men tend to have more single-track minds so are more likely to 'specialise' than women. My DH is a Phd, so has three Uni degrees, yet knows little about anything not involving his 'specialisms'. Whereas I, Mrs 3 'O' levels, knows way more of the answers on Eggheads than he does.

ilovepiccolina · 06/01/2010 20:42

I suppose that doesn't excuse the women on Sleb MM not choosing more highbrow topics though...

MistleSnail · 06/01/2010 20:43

True, true!
