Did anyone watch this last night?

Was transfixed in the last 10 minutes, felt sorry for Malcolm. My vote for the best line of the show last night goes to Ollie for

"I would kill you but i don't want to add to the crime figures"

I love it, I would love to be a female version of Tucker sometimes but haven't the quick wit of the sweary put-down! The lines whip by so fast I end up watching it again just to catch what I missed.

Megglevache · 06/12/2009 18:41

Oh God I missed it....pees pants with excitement....

iPLAYER!!!!

You could never really fire someone like Malcolm Tucker though could you? He'd just go straight to the opposition - bet you that's what happens.

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 07/12/2009 11:55

Oh, I watched this last night after sky+ing it, poor malcolm!

Sam, saddle my horse, I ride for DOSAC!

Whatever happened to the other Thick of It thread? I need a forum to coo admiringly...

I have to say this week's gear change left me open mouthed with admiration - that combination of brute comedy and pathos was really unexpected (although, now I think of it it was shadowed earlier in the episode about Nicola and her daughter's problems). Armando Iannucci is calling it his 'Malcolm Agnosties' episode - very apt

And how blatant was that Peter Mandleson character? Walking a rather fine line with the lawyers there, I think.

midnightexpress · 07/12/2009 14:02

Isn't it marvellous? Best comedy BBC have done in ages. So well written. Is that the last one in the series though or does it continue this week?

gizmo · 07/12/2009 14:05

Last episode this saturday (12th) - it's the second part of a two episode story, so follows straight on from this weeks. Can't wait to see how this is going to turn out!

Oh my word it was sooooo good, I was utterly transfixed. The BBC news announcement in the background was genius. Peter Capaldi is so amazingly convincing as Malcolm - every time he walks on screen I get nervous/excited.

I cannot wait until Saturday, its been ages since I've looked forward to a tv show so much. Love it, love it, love it.

someone told me the new chap playing Tucker's rival is based on Mandelson, but they made him look as unlike him as possible so can't be sued. Anyone know if Mandelson is know for his oily charm, descending into mad rages? I absolutely love Julius, now Lord Nicholson , who I believe is based on John Birt (now Lord Birt). This prog is highlight of my week, I even bought the scripts book from last series and have read and reread it hundreds of times!

InMyLittleHead · 07/12/2009 17:11

Re connections with real life, did anyone see the two specials where the PM (clearly Blair resigns) but then the next in line Tom(obviously Gordon Brown) is found to be addicted to heavy duty antidepressants, thus sparking a race to find a new PM, before they decide to go with Tom. This was a good two years before that accusation in the summer of Gordon Brown being addicted to MAOIs. Coincidence? Or do they have inside info?

sickofsocalledexperts · 07/12/2009 17:14

their script consultant is Martin Sixsmith, who was a big adviser in Blair/Brown govt so knows the inside track. I had not made that connection yet, you are right about the anti depressants

gizmo · 07/12/2009 17:16

Really, SOSCE? Oh man, that's great. I've spent half the afternoon googling Peter Mandelson and Alastair Campbell to find any nuggets about Campbell's resignations.

And thanks for clearing that up about Julius, I couldn't work out who he could possibly be...what a great game
