Anyone watching or am I on my own?

I love NS's programmes and his relaxed style of presenting.

I love Nigel Slater, but am finding the series almost unwatchable because it is so irritatingly overstyled.

The notebook, the underlining, the little notes on the fridge (with initials of the graphics company, oh ho ho how terribly amusing dahling)

I'm finding all that so annoying and distracting I can't concentrate on the food.

Yes, it's just like that Jamie Oliver one where he had the gardener, and the "gardening notebook" full of little notes and drawings. ("PUKKA!" Wonder if it's the same people.

The book looks absolutely gorgeous, though.

Nigel Slater can do no wrong, as far as I'm concerned. But then I haven't watched one of his programmes......just read/used his books and his weekly Observer contribution.

I too tell DH that I would like to live with Nigel He could throw together supper every evening from the contents of the garden/leftovers from fridge, whilst I sit and relax with a glass of wine. He would bake me chocolate cake and serve with darjeeling on a wintry afternoon when I have raging pms. And in the summer we could luxuriate on a blanket in the middle of Wandsworth Common, partaking of the finest kind of lovingly prepared picnic, watching all the fit guys playing rounders and comparing notes

MakeMineAGandT I thought exactly the same thing! Particularly when Jonathan Lovekin did all the photos for his diary book. It seemed very unlikely that he would have invited him round for lunch/supper all those times if they weren't connected.

I love his cookery books but I don't like watching him and I found Toast a bit too much, tbh. I liked the one he did about British food though.

I thought it was awful, though I am probably going against most people's opinion. He repeats himself so much!

Here is the recipe list from the series.

I couldn't find it before so ordered his book from Amazon. Lovely lovely book. Reminds me of a 1950s cookbook my mum used to have - lots of narrative between the recipes.

That should be new book as he's written more than one!

Does he mean tea? Supper in my neck of the woods means a bowl of cereal or a slice of toast at about 10pm in front of the telly!

Watched it for the first time last night.

Kept wanting to say "which was nice" in the manner of the Fast Show.
