fuck me it was odd
and crap I think.
nothing padded out to fill an hour.

I thought that last week but forgot it was on this week. I've not missed much then!

squeaver · 22/09/2009 19:00

Liked it last week.

This week I said to dh "it's been on for 20 minutes and NOTHING has happened".

Watching people think of things to do for an hour isn't very interesting really, is it?

DillyTantay · 22/09/2009 19:00

no
the pompous bloke was binned
they had to design a product to benefit humanity

one bloke sxaid " lets live on islands on water"
( this the product of a WEEKS work)

and philiipe said
" bof you 'av no himaginashun"
and shrugged a lot.
His wife looked pensive.
all the students looked stressed.

all the audience tried to work out why they cared

Dh was furious when the girls saved the guy at the end.

"what are they DOING?" he fumed.

DillyTantay · 22/09/2009 19:01

I think we have the legacy of the chicken brick and Habitat to defend,

or something.
there were lots of apprentice style shots of Paris.
and peopel with note books

DillyTantay · 22/09/2009 19:01

and that was the come uppance for the evil middle eastern guy

god maybe i DID enjoy it.
Its like a PS design isnt it - seemingly pointless but actually rather fun

i liked the livinh on water bloke, he is the only one i liked but i am doing an art based course and 'some' (not all) of the students are so shallow and they think such ridiculous crap up and they have never lived on their own away from mummy and daddy andf they have never wiped their own arse and it think, it think....ithink, jesus f*cking wept, most of the time

it is their lack of research that annoys me

the water meter that shows £££'s. It has already been invented
etc
etc
etc

anyway...is anyone watching 'tweed'?

DillyTantay · 22/09/2009 19:05

the tampon one made them all shift anxiouslt from foot to foot.

latestincarnation · 22/09/2009 19:07

Ha ha - loved the bit where they were stood in a hotel on top of a museum, spouting jargon and arty cliches about how they impact of the hotel/art installation, then one of them says "how do people impact on the hotel if everything is fixed to the floor?"
good point..

Paris, however, looked gorgeous...

mwff · 22/09/2009 19:09

turned it off after 5 mins, sounds like the right decision.

tweed is fantastic, seen it before but fascinating to rewatch since becoming a weaver myself.

MarshaBrady · 22/09/2009 19:17

His wife is so French

Shrug, poof, bof, nonchalance.

notnowbernard · 22/09/2009 19:18

It did remind me of the Apprentice

notnowbernard · 22/09/2009 19:20

And I got flashbacks to being 15 in a Design Communication lesson trying to fashion neat little models of things out of cardboard to try to convey my ideas but it actually looking shite and like something my 5yr old could do

AngryFromManchester · 22/09/2009 19:22

I got an A in Design Communication

I have to explain to people it was rather like 'technical drawing'...you know, these 'old people'

But yes, tweed is FAB isnt it? and aggis is sooooooooooooooooooo infuriating

mwff · 22/09/2009 19:37

come to think of it, wasn't it early 2009 in the last episode? in which case i can't have watched it before i started weaving. hmm. am confused, i was sure i'd seen it before. did you see "saville row" too? that was fun.

AngryFromManchester · 22/09/2009 19:41

No, I did not see saville row. Was that on bbc4 aswell?

how long have you been weaving for?

mwff · 22/09/2009 19:48

yeah it seems to be one of those regularly repeated programmes, comes up on the iplayer every now and again. i loved the tension of tradition vs innovation in saville row, i would have loved to see more of the actual tailoring but tis always so - the programme makers want the soap opera but i'm the geek that just wants to watch skilled people working.

been weaving since last summer (on and off!). must get back to my loom as i gave away my last teatowel the other day, need to make one for me.

CarmelitaMiggs · 22/09/2009 19:49

'lurve and piss'
Starck is a plank
That thing last week in the hypermarket -- what a load of crap!
I feel like throwing out my Excaliber loobrush (wedding present) in protest. Lurve and piss, indeed

AngryFromManchester · 22/09/2009 19:51

oh I love the tailoring too. Tailoring seems a dying trade in this country unloess you are rich unfortunately. I come from a working cklass background and even my Grandfather used to have handmade tailored suits made. 'A suit for best'

I am v jealous you ahve you own loom. What a lucky girl you are

DillyTantay · 22/09/2009 19:57

oh fgs oyu ponces

"your own loom"

OP posts:
mwff · 22/09/2009 20:01

:P dilly don't tell me you're surprised there are fully paid up lentil weavers on mn

i started very small with toy looms afm - can pick them up for pennies on ebay if you fancy a dabble

AngryFromManchester · 22/09/2009 20:30

how can it be poncey to haver your own loom? the mind boggles

MrsJamin · 22/09/2009 20:36

I think if they'd have edited the programme down to 30 mins it would have been pretty good. I love how the up-his-own-arse guy left in episode 2.

mwff · 22/09/2009 21:01

am v that there was only one up-his-own-arse-guy on this porgramme...
