It worked for me. Could move my back forwards and move my arms but my bum was stuck to the seat.

I knew within a couple of seconds that it was going to work for me, I don't know if that makes a difference?

No stickiness here either. Boo.

Surely the film was just a side show and - if there was any possibility of being so influenced as to be 'stuck' - it was down to his spiel?

DuelingFanjo · 18/09/2009 22:48

none of us got stuck either.

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 18/09/2009 22:51

S'just suggestion and stats.

Millions of people watching. The ONLY thing we know is that three or four rang in to say they were 'stuck'. He told them to be, so they were.

Not bad odds, 4 in however many million...

Twas nothing to do with the subliminals or the film - he did a hypnotic induction via wat he was saying. According to psychologists about 5-10 percent of the population are very susceptible to hypnotic suggestion. I took part in some psychology experiments when at uni and was found to be such. I only had half an eye on the Derren Brown thing so it only partially worked for me. I felt my hands feel as if they were sinking into my legs, exactly as I had felt when being hypnotised previously, but was able to pull myself out of it. I think that you would have to be susceptible and have been concentrating fully for it to work for you.

Did anyone else think it was a bit dodgy not to give the poor suggestible twassocks their money back after the homeless man stunt? I know Shelter is a worthy cause, but...

Boco · 18/09/2009 23:49

Well they should have given that suggestable boy his shoes back anway. He might have trod on dog poo.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 19/09/2009 00:02

Absolutely BoF. I was wating for him to say that they had found the donors and given them their money back, and especially tracked down the poor old shoe man. Was a bit

Hey there! I never got that message btw: it's bit of fun 1 @ yahoo dot co dot uk if you saved it? Mwah!

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 19/09/2009 00:12

Right, have forwarded it. Although the address in the 'sent' box looked very much like the one you've just given me. Must be some gremlins knocking about. Let me know if it arrives?

BitOfFundango · 19/09/2009 00:17

Gremlins indeed- nowt! Did you put the 1 in?

Why do I get daily crap from Holy Moly and not messages I actually want?

BitOfFundango · 19/09/2009 00:33

Maybe send me a CAT instaed then we can go from there?

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 19/09/2009 00:36

I'm not stuck. I thought I was very susceptible too - I used hypnotherapy during my labour with dd as pain relief to great effect, although it was dh who hypnotised me then.

I could feel my legs getting heavy when he was hypnotising before the film started (that was a red herring btw, as far as I could tell) but I could stand up with no problem! Bit disappointed, but I thought it was a good show - it's entertainment, not science!
