CBeebies Me Too

I love watching CBeebies and have watched it for years, well before I had my LO.

I like watching Me Too and wondered what the relationship dynamics between the characters were. Does anyone know?

Granny Murray looks after a number of children, including Lisa, Rebecca, Kai, Jack and a dog, belonging to Dr. Juno.

Lisa, who sometimes gets dropped off there by either Tina the cab driver or Raymond the buffet car manager. I presume Tina and Raymond are a couple.

Jack gets dropped off by his dad Rudi, the blind guy who runs the market stall, there is mention of Louie, who plays on the riverboat with another girl Chuck, I presume Rudi and Louie are an item, but n ot sure if she's Jack's mum?

Dr. Juno, who owns the dog, always mentions Chuck as being her friend, are they in fact a Lesbian couple?

Rebecca is the daughter of Micky John the teacher, is he a single dad? Never any sign of her mother.

Kai's mum is Bobbie, who cleans the buses, I presume she's a single mum too? As she often drops Kai off to Granny Murray's when she works the night shift.

Thanks

I'm not convinced at all by Raymond and Tina, I think their marriage is a lavender sham.

I didn't realise that Rudi is blind until DH told me well into the run, and then I didn't believe him until I googled it

Nuzzle and Scratch rule though.

pinkteddy · 30/08/2009 22:07

Hours of fun for you and yr Dh

Well I only started watching Tikkabilla regularly when I was pregnant as I was so uncomfortable in the latter stages that I was up at 5am.

I quite like Balamory too, but wonder how Archie and Josie Jump live in such huge properties, when neither of them appear to work.

As for the Tweenies, who is the old man Max, is he their childminder Judy's dad?

mondami you are watching the dregs of telly. ds runs to tell me to change channel "mummy quick it is tweenies". tikkabilla is so bad i haven't watched one through.

me too is only interesting in that they have cgi'd the city so when ds sees the gherkin building he calls it doctor place.

there are so many better programmes, i implore you to switch to c5 in the mornings.

ps bus cleaning = wiping down all the rails etc inside.

MANATEEequineOHARA · 30/08/2009 22:42

Oh god my fb status today is this:

Darned 'Granny Murray' - YOU ARE NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE A GRANNY! Also - childminders DO NOT hug parents when they drop off their children! AND the parents know their way to work!!! hyperventilates in the way only Granny Murray can cause

But really...how the hell can she call herself GRANNY Murray!? Dcs keep making me watch it for torture.

Monadami · 30/08/2009 22:45

I find Tamba quite cute Fishie. I do like Milkshake on C5 and enjoy Fireman Sam and Hana's Helpline, but prefer programmes with people in, which Cbeebies tends to have more of. Saying that, I loved Big Barn Farm and hope they make a new series.

Also watching Me Too, stops me from tuning into the start of Jeremy Kyle.

The woman who plays Granny Murray was only 38 at the time.

Perhaps because she's a childminder, they classify her as a "Nanny", but she somehow got called Granny. Her flat seems to be really small, so would she really be able to be a childminder?

MANATEEequineOHARA · 30/08/2009 23:09

I thought she didn't even look 30!

jemart · 30/08/2009 23:24

I hate all cbeebies! especially Me Too!
If I have to I can just about cope with Jakers or Charlie & Lola. My dd makes me watch Waybaloo and kerwhizz as these are her faves. repeatedly.

PuppyMonkey · 31/08/2009 07:58

The background children that Granny Murry has care of sometimes change into completely different people when she goes outside and has a picnic etc. Then at the end of the day, they kids are the same ones that she had at the start of the day again. That's what I worry about.

Isn't some of it filmed in Newcastle???

at this thread.

I am clearly along in loving Me Too.

I have a detailed theory that "Granny" Murray provides a form of care in the community for parents who are struggling. As far as the parents are concerned she's a childminder but actually she is helping out the most incompetent useless parents known to humankind (anyone scared at the thought of being treated by Dr Juno or taught by Mickey John who frequently can't figure out the most basic problem, like how to manage to eat his lunch).

I LOVE Granny Murray's random bits of wisdom. They were sometimes scraping the bottom of the barrel (last week it was something like "a washing machine can work wonders". Er no, a washing machine can Wash Clothes. Surely fairly useful but not particularly wonderful and awe-inspiring).

My all-time favourite is:
Do Not Fiddle With What You Don't Understand.

NorkilyChallenged · 31/08/2009 08:40

alone rather than along.

mustrunmore · 31/08/2009 08:53

All of you who mentioned the extensive setting of Me Too... is this just an urban myth then; I thought it was like that because they had to stop Balamory as residents were fed up of tourists, so they made Me Too be multi-location to prevent it happening again?

MANATEEequineOHARA · 31/08/2009 09:32

I am willing to go with the care in the community for struggling parents theory, it explains an awful lot.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 31/08/2009 14:45

mustrunmore, I believe it was so that it was generic than Balamoray. That by having several famous landmarks throughout the UK that children were more likely to recognise one of them and be excited rather than it being set in one place and only a hanful of children recognising it.
Tobermory as a community made a lot of money in tourist visits off the back of Balamoray and it is a tourist place attracts loads every year.

lottiejenkins · 31/08/2009 15:21

The woman who plays Tina was in the film Dear Frankie, as was the lady who plays Penny Pocket in Balamory........ I am full of useless information!

Monadami · 01/09/2009 00:27

Well, looks like it's still only me who enjoys Me Too.

I agree with another poster about charlie and Lola. Lola is the most annoying child ever, especially the episode when they go to the zoo and she eats all her lunch on the way there and spends all her pocket money, then has the audacity to expect Charlie to share his with her. Spoilt little brat.

puffling · 01/09/2009 00:41

I heard that Isla St Clair was the original granny Murray but she found filming tiring, so they had to draft in a quick replacement.
Also all the money had gone on Night Garden, so Me Too was financed by the dregs.

kathyis6incheshigh · 01/09/2009 08:40

Good heavens Puffling, I never knew that. Do you think she would have kept bursting into Scottish folk song?
I loved 'The Song and the Story'.

mamadiva · 01/09/2009 08:49

I still find it hard to watch granny murray because she plays a full mouthed, nosey old lady in Still Game so I keep expecting her to say summit rude

It's supposed to be in Edinburgh but when it does the whole cartoon scenery there is Glasgow, Edinburgh and London all rolled into one.

Bobby is annoying twat and she was'nt much better ion Coronation Street, again foun d it hard to watch waiting for her to start doing cartwheels on the cobbles. Oh and Tina was also a foul mouthed bugger in Rab C nesbitt

angelene · 01/09/2009 11:31

And what IS Mickey John's accent? He's clearly Welsh and trying something on but it veers wildly all over the UK.

funtimewincies · 01/09/2009 11:39

I'd love to sit in on an Ofsted inspection of one of Mickey John's (who comes up with these names?) lessons .

Names of basic 2D shapes with a class of 7 and 8 year olds ? Special measures await!
