LynetteScavo · 22/07/2009 22:03

I meant not all of them....

noddyholder · 22/07/2009 22:09

I can't see any good in it at all Should be illegal

LynetteScavo · 22/07/2009 22:18

The girl who wins is quite natural.

noddyholder · 22/07/2009 22:19

the winning is the problem for me tbh These girls are being judged on their looks and they haven't even become themselves yet

LynetteScavo · 22/07/2009 22:22

No idfferent to being judged on brains, though, is it?

I would have won on neither brains nor beauty, at that age, or now.

girlylala0807 · 22/07/2009 22:36

Ok...is that women from Glasgow or is she English?

Metatron · 22/07/2009 22:40

The beautician christian was a west coaster.

HerBeatitude · 22/07/2009 22:42

God should I call the NSPCC?

Is this not at least emotional abuse?

FFS. Those mothers need serious therapy.

Sasha's mother was the only sane one.

noddyholder · 22/07/2009 23:07

lynette you are joking surely?

nappyaddict · 22/07/2009 23:53

I felt so sorry for Tyla. She wanted to wear her glasses but worried that her mum would tell her off And she looked really gorgeous as a baby yet her mum thought she was ugly. How's she gonna feel when she hears that!

I don't think it compares to a baby competition. Most people who enter their kids into those keep them looking very natural looking. I am pretty sure they don't give them fake tans, nails and make up! And I can't believe that woman told the judges not to let that woman win cos she had cross eyes

I actually went awwww when they said a shop lent Sasha her dress lol. Sasha's mum was the only one speaking any sense! I was willing her on when it was her turn lol. She did really well! I'm glad the winner didn't have masses of make up on. They do all look so much better if they stick to minimal make up and the natural look.

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 23/07/2009 00:06

Yeah, but the winner was 12, and she still looked 18 even though she wasn't caked in slap.

And they were all so thin.

What the hell do I do if dd says to me one day, "Mummy, I want to enter a beauty pageant."

midlandsmumof4 · 23/07/2009 00:26

Of the three girls who were featured-Sasha was over and above the other two. She was the youngest, wanted to win cos her family were skint and her mum seemed really down to earth. She was the only one to benefit from the experience. She overcame her inconfidence even though she didn't win. Hope we never see or hear from the other two again. Why do these kids not have more ordinary names btw .

Monty100 · 23/07/2009 00:43

Wanted Sasha to win.

But the whole thing is madness!

nappyaddict · 23/07/2009 01:14

UrbanDyrad I have to say I would probably let them do it if they wanted to, but would treat it more like a talent contest than a beauty contest.

midlandsmumof4 · 23/07/2009 01:40

Nappy-this was nothing to do with talent, they had none. More to do with the mums living their lost youth. Think it's very sad that two of these girls were not very good at anything. Under the makeup, they were quite pretty. With it, well they looked desperate-sorry.

nappyaddict · 23/07/2009 01:44

No it wasn't but if my child wanted to do it - i wouldn't stop them from doing it but i would focus on them having fun and doing something they were good at and enjoyed rather than making sure they looked like plastic barbies.

HerBeatitude · 23/07/2009 08:49

This was the other thing that was very uncomfortable about it - all that make up.

It should not be allowed. If people are going to do these beauty pageants, they could do least harm by banning make-up. If they actually took a line of "we know people are going to do this stuff, so we want to do it as ethically as possible and that means ensuring that they're about little girls being made to feel good about themselves rather than bad about themselves, oh and btw anyone who looks like a child prostitute will get null points", they would be less objectionable.

noddyholder · 23/07/2009 09:39

Unlikely any child would want to be sprayed oranged plucked painted and dominated by these hideous women who claim to be mothers.none of those kids looked truly happy they had no joy in their little faces and all talk was of their looks!

elvislives · 23/07/2009 09:39

It was billed as an "American-style Beauty Pageant". Having seen the US Pageants on TV the makeup these kids had on was minimal I did wonder how Maddison would fare going off to try the pageants in the States because most of them seem to start the circuit at 3 so by 9 they are old hands. Somehow don't think she's going to get anywhere.

Anyone seen Little Miss Sunshine?

babyignoramus · 23/07/2009 09:50

Madison's mother would do her more favours in life if she taught her to be a bit more gracious in defeat!!

And poor, poor Tyla. How could her mother say such awful things about her?

Shocking stuff really - I don't think there's anything wrong with having somewhere for children to showcase their talents but why do looks have to come into it?

AitchTwoOh · 23/07/2009 10:45

madison's mother was from teh north of england and had moved to glasgow in later life, judging by her accent.

serajen · 23/07/2009 12:09

lisad123, just looked at your pics, they're beautiful

LynetteScavo · 23/07/2009 12:55

beanieb · 05/08/2009 19:30
