I mean WTF? Simpering pink boggle-eyed things doing yoga? DS sat there open mouthed with horror going 'Mummy, is this RUBBISH?'

Had to laugh at this yesterday - we were all geared up to watch cos one of the wee boys is in the year above ds (so turning 8 during filming - hardly a preschooler!!).

dd1(3) was gutted to hear the children (including her hero) had all been dubbed over wiv suvvern accents (we're central Scotland)

Programme itself was guff IMO - too new age for kids telly and skating a little too close to religious programming for my liking. If they're going to encourage kids to do yoga, then they have to allow other beliefs to encourage prayer/meditation etc etc. Just calling it "yogo" shouldn't let it sneak in under the radar.

poshtottie · 21/05/2009 15:09

Yoga isn't a religion.

UniS · 22/05/2009 20:30

my 3 yr old lad liked it.
He knows I go to a yoga class and liked trying "yoga" postures, especially BIG roaring thing... Previously I've tried to interest him, but he's not been bothered, this caught his attention.
Story bored me, but I'm not 3.
I suspect its bit slow compared to some programmes aimed at older children but watched by a lot of younger ones. However I have a lad who likes Maise , kipper, Timmy the sheep and tractor Ted.

Tartanpants: Nothing wrong with DC being taught to respect diversity of course, but Toddworld (in particular) is like being hit over the head with a sandwich board and I think it's insulting to even a 2-year-old's intelligence.
Waybuloo is just simpering witless tossm though annoying ly Ds now likes it

My nearly 3 year old watched it the whole way through and he's pretty quick to want me to turn over to Peppa Pig given half a chance. I thought it was crap but the things that I can tolerate being on he never wants to watch. As long as it's age appropriate, DS will soon let me know what he does and doesn't want to watch but I was really surprised he sat through this. His favourites are usually Peppa Pig, C&Lola,Finlay Fire Engine, Roary etc so this seemed so sloooow and plodding in comparison.

Frasersmum123 · 23/05/2009 20:16

YANBU - Its awful and even my telly-addict two year old wasnt interested!

Meglet · 23/05/2009 20:24

I haven't paid any attention to the story part of Waybuloo, but I love the yoga part. I never have time to go to classes these days so even 5 mins of yoga with ds is fun . My only gripe is that the characters don't say the names of the poses clearly enough, I have to listen hard to find out which one we're moving onto [taking it too seriously emoticon].

Timmy Time is lovely, though - and I say this as someone who normally can't stand Aardman Animations.

I love the way the animals 'speak' in animal noises in Timmy Time. The owl going 'hoot, hoot, hooooot' just cracks me up. I am in a very odd mood, atm, though.

merryberry · 24/05/2009 21:12

no, the most stomach turning twee pile of toss i have ever seen is the green balloon club. at least the utter huh?ness of waybuloo is a novelty

bobsmum · 25/05/2009 14:17

Yoga on Wiki

poshtottie · 25/05/2009 15:58

not sure if the link works but basically yoga isn't a religion as it doesn't dictate the nature of a god to be worshipped.

lottascarlett · 21/09/2009 19:20

I for one dont mind my 2 yr old daughter getting lost in their world for 15 mins, she wont be doing it for long, and im going to enjoy it with her, as for the educational side, i think it just relaxes most children eg my son who is 6, and goes swimming, does footie, likes to watch this sometimes.
Im just glad that she doesn't like that squiglet pig/cat/tiger thing that i unfortunately got a glimpse of on a day off

bea · 21/09/2009 21:05

i know it is but before going to bed tonight dd2 (2 yrs) said 'look i'm a shell' and then did the 'shell' i presume... and then said 'look a bridge'... very funny and quite cute!

19fran76 · 25/09/2009 19:37

Waybuloo is indeed total toss & an insult to yoga .

CatIsSleepy · 25/09/2009 19:45

oh i dunno...dd1 seems to like trying to do the yoga poses...it's quite sweet in a way. I don't sit there and watch it with her though.

I love Timmy time too

teektok · 25/09/2009 19:50

Waybuloo has nicked stuff from yogabugs or more likely it now seems bought ideas from yogabugs. I have been less sniffy about waybuloo when I realised that. DD1 loves yogabugs and therefore Waybuloo.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 25/09/2009 19:54

DS (2.1) likes Waybuloo. I slightly dread it but it's nice to see him smiling at it and trying the wee poses out in his chunky little toddler way.

that the obvious dubbing is simply to remove Scottish accents! That is totally outrageous!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/09/2009 20:00

DD (2.3) LOVES Waybuloo! She loves trying the yogo moves and makes me get down and try them too. She says very little but will say "b'looo" when she sees the programme, or a picture of the characters, or hears the music. I did find it a bit weird at first and even now do find some of it (mainly the peeka part) a bit tedious, but am happy enough to watch it with her - or to watch her watching it at least.

mummybrained · 25/09/2009 20:09

i think it is sick-making but my 2yo boy was happy to watch it, he started baby yoga almost a year ago and got bored, not the books have come back out again so i thought it was a fair trade off. Then dh came home and saw it, he was appalled! I told him it was probably for kids who found ITNG a bit too hardcore

Pennies · 25/09/2009 20:12

It's utter, utter shit. My DH comes out with more sense after a long night in the pub. Can't stand it.

lala79 · 05/11/2009 09:49

I actually like it. It makes a change to the normal programmes churned out for kids to watch. My 9 month old daughter loves it, she is mesmorised when its on!

bethoo · 05/11/2009 09:59

i find the music quite relaxing in a way! my 2 yr old son watches it and my dd who is 1 giggles when she sees it so i am all for it for 15 minutes of twinkly peace!
rather they were watching that than other age innappropriate crap!
