Not sure why the children were sleeping in the lounge?

Also why was supernanny so keen to get rid of the nighttime bottle? poor little thing

because she hasn't got kids and doesn't understand what its like being a parent

I used to be a nanny, I could get the kids to eat all their veg, sleep at sleep time etc etc - my own won't do much I tell them!!

when it isn't your kids you don't have an emotional pull and the job is easier

bigchris · 03/05/2009 19:46

ah I see!
do you know why the kids didn't have a bedroom?
no wonder it was hard to sleep

sorry, I couldn't figure that one out either!

cornsilk · 03/05/2009 19:54

I was going to ask if supernanny actually had any kids. Patronising woman.

TwoIfBySea · 03/05/2009 20:45

ssd, I was a nanny too and have the exact same experience as you with my own dts! Unless you have your own you have no idea.

buggylovinmummy · 03/05/2009 20:47

They only had 1 bedroom and a really small house

feedthegoat · 03/05/2009 20:49

Didn't supernanny say something about it being a really small house? At one point she told parents to go into bedroom or office so I presumed maybe 2 bedrooms but needed one for work. Think if it was me I would have slept in the living room myself if desperately couldn't spare the office!

feedthegoat · 03/05/2009 20:50

cross post!

candyfluff · 04/05/2009 09:13

thats why she is best placed to sort these kids out ,she can detach herself from them and get the job done which you all have to admit she does.
i think shes fab
we use the naughty spot in our house and it works very well

ssd · 04/05/2009 09:32

but what happens when she goes home and the parents are left to look after their kids?

pointless really

Littlepurpleprincess · 04/05/2009 09:38

Her methods are ok. The problem I have with it, as you said ssd, what happens when she goes?

The children will view her as the discipline, not mum and dad. Also, how must it feel to be 3 years old, having a temper tantrum because you don't understand or are cross, and a stranger walks in to sort you out, shoves a camera and mic in your face...children with challenging behaviour need stabilty not chaos. Supernanny would be fine if she taught the parents, out of veiw of the children.
