OMG yes! I never really noticed him before but I was practically drooling. So funny too.

NorbertDentressangle · 17/03/2009 20:43

There seems to be trend of comedians from this era making comebacks.

If I'm honest I have to admit that I used to have a bit of a thing for Rob Newman (of Newman and Baddiel fame).

I briefly saw him on something recently and hes gone v v v political.

Babbity · 17/03/2009 20:44

(I do have a huge soft spot for funny, intelligent, slightly geeky, slightly plump dark haired men, though. Just as well, says DH.)

squeaver · 17/03/2009 20:46

Oh I liked Rob Newman too. He's a bit up himself know though.

Me too Squeaver. That enormous brain. And the eloquence. And his hair's going nicely grey, too.

angelene · 17/03/2009 20:48

I thought he was very funny last night - yes the targets were easy but he did them in a very clever, considered way. There were at least two shouty-laugh-out-loud-fall-off-the-sofa moments, and many regular laugh out loud ones. It's a definite date for me.

AitchTwoOh · 17/03/2009 20:49

he is sooooooo lovely. i've had a major crush since he wrote a column in (i think) the independent a hundred years ago.

edam · 17/03/2009 20:53

really enjoyed the show but yes, amazing how Herring has turned into such a gorgeous bloke and Lee, who was always the looker, has, um, not improved with age (although I do like those grey sideburns).

squilly · 17/03/2009 20:54

My husband went to a Rob Newman book signing and said he was a lovely bloke, but a bit strange!

Apparently, he asked DH if he should write with love to squilly on it (as DH said it was for his wife) and he thought DH said no...started ranting about typical northern blokes, etc...whilst DH looked on baffled.

Suddenly, he realised his mistake and said, ah, you said yes didn't you?? I'm so sorry.. Would you like me to put kisses on it too???

And he looked totally lost like a ickle boy.

Made me like him all the more.

But he's SOOOOO political lately that he's hard for us proles to understand! He was always SO much funnier than Baddiel imo but you have to say the two of them together were just the funniest thing ever.

I also quite fancy Eddie Izzard. Started watching him at a live show a few years ago and thought 'urgh...big bloke in a skirt'. Then I started thinking, 'um...nice skirt'. Then I started thinking, actually, hot bloke in a skirt! Sad, eh?!?

my preview for the newsletter is notionally abotu the apprentice but mostly mentions stwart lee's enormous brain and pieface (and richard herring's surprising late bloom).

AitchTwoOh · 17/03/2009 20:56

AitchTwoOh · 17/03/2009 20:57

really? he makes me pmsl. very silly. perhaps you're just too cerebral?

Stilla · 17/03/2009 22:25

Watching it now !

TsarChasm · 18/03/2009 11:14

I thought this was absolutely first class. His comedy was razor sharp and well observed and so so true. Fantastic!

I wish I could think of a reply like that when adults start dripping on about reading Harry Potter.

We used to love Fist of Fun. Dh and I still quote bits of that at home 'you want to moon on a stick!' being a favourite with us. And how uttely wonderful to see Kevin Eldon on there too. Remember him as the Hobby Man? Oh joy!

Contrast and compare to the latest Corden and Horne offering...
