I found the timing very confusing too, but oddly it didn't detract from the drama. I didn't think we'd seen Piggott's father earlier - but am assuming that was him dead in the shed in episode 3?

The other thing I didn't get was why there was no mention (that I saw) of the policeman who was killed with his daughter in episode 2 - if he was so crucial that he had to be killed, why no mention in episode 3?

And the stuff about "the beautiful carpets"? I think I need to watch the whole thing again ....

Yes, could only work out some of the timings by David Morrissey's moustache.

Think I need to read the book(s). Lots of loose ends.

At teh end when the rent boy was kneeling down before "priest", was he about to be killed with a drill or a saw or something? I thought I heard teh sound of a saw but am not sure.

LaDiDaDi · 20/03/2009 21:25

The priest had an electric drill in his hand.

OMG - glad I didn't watch part 3 now as it sounds too grim and dark. DH watched it and we have recorded it so I might give it a go but really it was harrowing stuff. Quite glad to read these spoilers though - I knew that priest/vicar bloke would be a bad un.

Tinker, I read that the books have even more loose ends than the TV dramas. The chap that wrote the drama had to try and make it all tie in, where he could. The 'upbeat' ending of the third episode wasn't in any of the books at all. Apparently they are much darker, if you can conceive of such a thing.

Tinker · 24/03/2009 22:36

Oh god, may have to give them a swerve then.

i thought it was the best telly i've seen for ages. i usually wander off after about 20 mins so a whole six hours was a record for me.

well apart from gilmore girls, i can watch lots of that.

Twinklemegan · 24/03/2009 22:48

I nearly didn't watch again after the first episode, as I thought the "ending" was very predictable and it was a thin and grisly plot strung out over 2 hours. I'm so glad I stuck with it. Episode 2 was gripping. Episode 3 I think I need to see again. I too was very confused by the role of the solicitor's dad.

That beautiful carpets thing was being repeated over and over by Dawson's wife in Episode 1 - was she a medium too do we think?

I wonder how many people gave up after Episode 1, not realising the three were interlinked (although the word "trilogy" should have been a clue I suppose). It was very brave programming I thought.
