Hi all! I currently have Vigin who do 'on demand' which is pretty good for being able to catch up on anything you miss. But it doesnt always have everything thats on tv on demand, like films etc. For all you hardcore sky + fans out there - what are its best points? and how much is it?! Thanks!

Don't know how much it is but Sky+ it's definately up there on the list of 'most brilliant inventions ever' along with dishwashers, epidurals and the internet. It simply makes life so much easier. My 4 year old even pauses fifi and the flowertots now when she goes to the loo!

The pausing and rewinding/fast forwarding feature means you pause the programme when it starts - go and get your cup of tea/bacardi+coke or whatever and then you can just fastforward the adverts. BRILLIANT. Or - just press R to record everything and anything (even a programme you've half watched and realised you want your mate to see it) and you can watch them to fit in with your life. Or not. Simply delete them if you change your mind.

If there is a programme you watch every week you just hit the green button and it automatically records every episode. I do this with the schools programmes and my kids watch them for 20 mins in the morning while they're eating their cheerios, so at least they stare at something educational instead of all the sponge bob rubbish.

We just used it to pause when we first had it but the longer you use it, and realise how brilliant and useful it is - like any great thing - you wonder how you ever managed before you had it.

We pay £42 for the complete package which includes sports as well as films. You can pause, rewind, series link to record future programmes, set from your mobile when out of the house.

We pay £48 which is for HD (HD not worth it IMO)and includes films, but not sport.

I love the series link feature, which I use a lot. It's also great to be able to rewind if you miss something. I watch less television now because I don't just sit and watch what is on, I usually watch something from the planner.

Ah ok .. thanks for the info. Think I might be sold! I didnt realise about the pause/ff/rw feature, that makes it a cut above virgin - plus with virgin the on demand stuff only ever lasts a week.

Get sky+!!! It is wonderful! You don't miss any episodes of your fave shows, can paise,ff,rw and with a busy family life you can't beat being able to catch up on programmes you'd otherwise miss!

I love the fact that I have not watched an advert since I got it (well in my own home anyway!)

I used to pay £26 for the basic mix packages including my wireless broadband and free evening and weekend calls (line rental to BT). Since then I have added the movies package which gives me Disney Cinemagic for free I think I now pay around £35 inc. broadband and phone. Oh and I have multiroom too.

juicymelon · 10/02/2009 17:26

you can upgrade to V+ if you currently have virgin, has all the same features as sky+, pause rewind etc, but you also have the on demand, useful if you have forgotten to set a recording

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2009 13:58

sky+ is fab

we have everything apart from sports and costs £38 - this also included bb and free evening and weekends calls

brill to record your crap soaps and othere series's

we did a deal and got it for £100 (the box) but got back £50 M&S vouchers so really cost £50
