did anyone see the bbc this morning, about sex education in schools for 4-6 year olds

I would imagine that age 4-6 sex education is probably more about where babies come from and what those interesting bits of your body are called and why mummy has breasts etc than anything more, er, challenging. I'm all for it. It sounds very sensible.

Why on earth should they not know that? I don't teach my DD (5) different words for arms, or ears, or any other body part. It is a vagina, and it is a penis.

If this is the same thing that was discussed on the radio the other day, then it's not so much sex education that is going to be taught ( that's just to get everybody's attention ), it is simply learning that there are differences between boys and girls, and that the different part of their bodies have names.
That's it. Seems quite simple to me.

I think they should definitely have started learning the basics of it by the end of year 1. i know a girl who started her periods in the first month of year 2 and was terrified cos she had no idea what was happening to her.
