yes, very scary

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/10/2008 21:28

she is the same age as my nephew and sounds like she is 8 years older than him

Raahh · 02/10/2008 21:33

why is she wearing mascara? She is 8 ffs!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/10/2008 21:33

was just thinking the same thing

anyfucker · 02/10/2008 21:34

she is caked in make-up

it is making me cry

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2008 21:38

i think in a way it is a shame they focus onte 8 year old because insuight from the older giorls woulkd be valuable

my dd2 went thru this but got pregnant by mistake at the time and that if you like ended up being what took her out of it

but a friend of my dd1 at 15 went dowqn the road and my dd1 was very scared and talked to me about it as i gad been thru mental health problems

a lot happened around that but it is one time when i had to bite the bullet and make a difference

I'm watching it and it's very sad.

How worrying to see such young children with a mental illness

SlartyBartFast · 02/10/2008 21:42

my dd aged nearly 9 wouldnt dream of wearing mascara,

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2008 21:42

i dont think it is all about image its control

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 02/10/2008 21:42

i spose she has a much older sister

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/10/2008 21:43

scary for you Zippi,

I had a couple of friends at school with anorexia, one has just had a baby, the other very sadly died of heart failure when she was 24.

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2008 21:44

both her sibs are a lot older

i am not realy distracted by the makeup

but i think really she is not as interestring as the others

maybe because she is younger

the older girks insight is interesting

Piffle · 02/10/2008 21:45

so young. Really keen to see why
And how does she know to be aware of cals etc
Baffling
I did suffer periods of bulimic behaviour but can see no way how an 8 yr old could be so emotionally injured/aware to be so affected

Raahh · 02/10/2008 21:45

Prob is, many don't see it as a mental illness. Being thin is normal. Acceptable. Being FAT is wrong...

I was 11 when my bulimia started. Am now 36. I actually went through a phase of wanting the will power to have anorexia nervosa.

It hasn't gone away. i pray my dcs won't end up with the food hang ups i have lived with

SlartyBartFast · 02/10/2008 21:46

i spose it makes a good programme title doesnt it

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/10/2008 21:46

I did work expereince from college up in Scotland and the couples son had anores=xia but from over exercising.

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2008 21:46

dd2 was 18 when she confessed to being 27 weeks preganant

i thought she had just got better

OP posts:
FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/10/2008 21:47

wow

Martha200 · 02/10/2008 21:48

Watching too and sad too.

I did wonder though when she went out with her family and her mum said about her wanting to eat fun food and sat with her eating cake, why didn't she have a pudding too?
(maybe I am missing something, but I would have thought that to make something seem a norm, parents should be seen to do or eat what they would like their children to)

Guadalupe · 02/10/2008 21:50

Two good friends had a sister that ended up in hospital with this. Horrible illness.

It is really sad watching the programme, she looks and sounds so much older than eight yet she's so vulnerable.

SlartyBartFast · 02/10/2008 21:51

good point martha.
isnt it more a cry for help though

controlfreakinfreaky · 02/10/2008 21:51

why the f would you LET your anorexic 8 year old go on the telly like this..... why would you go on and on about your feelings about it in fron of her for the whole tv watching world to see. bonkers. cruel. stooopid.

Guadalupe · 02/10/2008 21:52

she looked like she was going to be sick with that cake but was so worried about failing the 'test'. Didn't look like much fun.

SlartyBartFast · 02/10/2008 21:53

however as grownup mothers most of us cant eat the same full amount of calories as an 8 year old could or should, but i spose if we are counting calories we shoudl keep it to ourselves

giraffescantdancethetango · 02/10/2008 21:54

I had an eating disorder as a child (more a phobia of swallowing ANYTHING than anorexia) and then anorexia as a teen. horrid illness
