If you haven't seen it, it's great. Bit disturbing though.

Oh, had forgotten that, thanks

Slut · 28/09/2008 20:37

it is a fantastic film, and I only had to look away twice.

The scary nightmare eyes creature was omg scary though.

SorenLorensen · 28/09/2008 20:38

I've set the doodah (technical term) to record it - haven't seen it before.

mablemurple · 28/09/2008 20:38

Incredible film, but was a bit bemused at the way it was advertised - made it seem like a kids fantasy film .

dinny · 28/09/2008 20:39

yes, Slut, that's SO scary - I can't work out why it's so scary, what it does for eyes

something primal

dinny · 28/09/2008 20:40

yeah, MM, a friend of mine was going to buy it for her kids before she realised what it was like

but it IS fantasy, amazing

Slut · 28/09/2008 20:44

I was actually hiding behind cushions for that bit, the whole film is an awesome affair really, fantasy/fascism perfectly dark.

I am Slur really btw (just pointless namechange for embarrassing thread earlier)

WouldYouCouldYouWithAGoat · 28/09/2008 20:46

i loved this but don't htink i can watch it again.

dinny · 28/09/2008 20:46

ha ha - after I had posted I had to dbl check Slut ws your name - thought I'd done it by accident!

remember the root thingy under the bed, that makes the baby better?

OP posts:
dinny · 28/09/2008 20:47

I know what you mean about not wanting to watch it again

imdb

Slut · 28/09/2008 20:52

root is also disturbing.

Isn't it/Pan/root even! all more about primal nature forces of earth and so outside modern christian interpretations of good or evil.

Fairies were always outside of definition in such terms I think.

Like you could not trust them but they weren't necessarily evil.

dinny · 28/09/2008 20:55

Ofelia really reminds me of my dd

OP posts:
Slut · 28/09/2008 20:56

then how can you bear to watch? I am a mess at films with children in at best of times.

Slut · 28/09/2008 20:56

Oh and gosh your dd must be lovely

PeppermintPatty · 28/09/2008 20:57

Oh I watched this at the flicks when I was pregnant and I sobbed and sobbed.

Tis extremely sad and disturbing

dinny · 28/09/2008 20:58

I was transfixed first time

then second time I don't think I watched till the very end

will prob fall asleep tonight (just cos am preggers and knackered and have had three late nights in a row, not cos film is snooz-inducing!)

OP posts:
dinny · 28/09/2008 20:59

oh she is, Slur

OP posts:
dinny · 28/09/2008 21:02

interesting fact - Guillermo del Toro oversaw the language subtitling of the film too

OP posts:
moondog · 28/09/2008 21:02

Wot our Pan??

Slut · 28/09/2008 21:05

yes mooney our Pan . He built this labyrinth right? and he puts mners children into it and sets freaky creatures with scary eyes on them.

I told him it wasn't the done thing but would he listen?

moondog · 28/09/2008 21:06

I dunno
Anyfink's possible.
