looks like it could be good!

looks like life on mars in petticoats to me (minus gene hunt of course)

TwoIfBySea · 29/08/2008 22:01

I read the synopsis today and it does sound a little like a Jasper Fforde idea.

Will watch it though.

Anything is better than Keira Knightly as Lizzie Bennett! Although Alex Kingsley as Mrs Bennett

expatinscotland · 29/08/2008 22:02

i am SO fucking sick of the BBC's fascination with Austen.

truly am.

roisin · 29/08/2008 22:03

I saw the trailers and thought it looked utterly dreadful. I'm not tempted in the slightest, I'm sure I woudl loathe it.

fatzak · 29/08/2008 22:05

I'll be watching as lots of it is filmed where we got married! Cannon Hall

Saturn74 · 29/08/2008 22:07

It looks like it's going to be awful.
It just needs Emma Thompson to jump out of a wardrobe somewhere along the line, to cap it all off.

wintera · 31/08/2008 16:26

You can't blame the bbc for this one I'm afraid. Its on ITV!!

KatyMac · 31/08/2008 16:27

When is it on?

AbbaFan · 31/08/2008 16:29

Starts on Wednesday.

I am going to give it a try.

KatyMac · 31/08/2008 16:36

Thanks

braveandcrazy · 31/08/2008 20:31

The Times said you have to be intelligent enough to know the P & P plot well, but stupid enough to watch a soap-like ITV programme where there is a gap in the space time continuum behind a bathroom cabinet.

Sounds just about right for me then.... well' I'll give it a go and keep an open mind!

LostGirl · 01/09/2008 10:58

excellent braveandcrazy, sounds like it will suit be down to the ground!

KatyMac · 03/09/2008 21:46

It's funny, contrived and I'm a bit

southeastastra · 04/09/2008 09:34

thought it was funny, daft but made me laugh

willali · 04/09/2008 09:45

I felt ever so slightly uncomfortable viewing this programme - thought it was toe curlingly awful, insult to the intelligence..DH loved it though (doubt a middle age man was the target demographic but hey ho!!)

Snaf · 04/09/2008 09:50

It was pretty ropey, wasn't it? Hugh Bonneville made me smirk now and again, that's about it. As for Darcy...words fail me, and not in a good way.

piratecat · 04/09/2008 10:44

I quite enjoyed it, i couldn't be 'bothered to start watching', as i am not much of a tv person, but it forced myself an it was quite good.

Beetroot · 04/09/2008 10:44

weird but enjoyable I thought

StellaDallas · 04/09/2008 13:53

I thought it was quite fun, as long as you were willing to suspend all critical faculties for the duration.

BabiesEverywhere · 04/09/2008 19:51

I loved it.

Though it does help that I am obsessed with P&P and willing ignore any naff bits to enjoy an Austen based show.

Looks like it will only be me and Willali's DH watching next week

Twinklemegan · 04/09/2008 21:36

I enjoyed it at the beginning but quickly became a bit bored. It could have been much more subtle, but then ITV doesn't do subtle. I ended up Mumsnetting and missing the rest of it. The same as with most TV these days actually.

braveandcrazy · 04/09/2008 21:46

I started watching but got a bit tetchy when Mr Bingley started fancying wotserface and shouted at the telly. I ended up searching Pride and Prejudice on youtube and watching clips of Colin Firth and Matthew McFadyen instead (how sad).

Remotew · 04/09/2008 21:47

I enjoyed this. TV programs don't normally grab my attention but will be watching next week.
