Adverts - what drives you mad?

The ones I'd happily blow up are:

That bloody advert with the dancing car - in fact most car ads.

That Actamil one with the kid and his embarrassing mother.

The current Admiral one with various snotty crying teenagers blubbing about not being able to get cheap insurance because of being too young.

I'm sure there's more.

DH finds it really funny that I get so annoyed with an advert, but they wind me up

sozie · 07/02/2005 21:28

Can't stand the direct line ones with the couple in the VW beetle - could have got better looking actors who could act. Love the Audi one though.

What drives me mad is the so-called advert-free BBC & their constant adverts for upcoming cr*p on BBC3. If I see Johnny Vegas once more I will throw the TV out the window

Got really annoyed with an advert today, though 'Oh, I must add that to the MN thread'...and now can't remember which one it was. That is pathetic on so many levels.

Lonelymum · 08/02/2005 19:09

I find it hard to remember any ads (so they aren't working on me!) but just reading your posts, I have to agree with
The Linda Barker ads (Currys always cutting prices! and I think you'll like them too - like she knows anything at all about my taste in sofas!)
The Lucky? That's more than Lucky ads
The Yakult ad - yucky stuff and yucky man
The Actamel ad - stupid, looney mother acting like a deranged teenager
All mobile phone ads
and that one with the granny and the writing on the wall behind the wardrobe is for a mortgage company - don't remember which one.

Lonelymum · 08/02/2005 19:10

Oh and the ones that used to feature Michael Winner, what a fool he made of himself.

pixel · 08/02/2005 19:24

I hate all those adverts for make-up and shampoo that have invented 'scientific' names which always begin with 'nutri'something. Do they really think we are that stupid?

Regarding those ads for tampons etc, they are only on after a certain time in the evening. Whenever dh sees one he says "is it that time already?" (honestly it was funny the first few times).

helsi · 08/02/2005 19:46

The ones flogging loans and offering to help pay off debts. Also the ones asking if I have been injured in the last three years. Any of those types really - all money money money.

Poo2 · 08/02/2005 19:47

" If I'd known that KFC chicken mini fillet burgers were only 99p, I'd have asked to get me one. Sandara - can I have a bite' Nooooooo!

Twiglett · 09/02/2005 08:17

I find the Johnny Vaughn Capital Radio ads really sad and desperate

Self-advertising on the BBC drives me doolally

oh and I still stand by my love of the KFC ad , sorry Poo2

desperatehousewife · 09/02/2005 08:36

I have to switch off Halifax ads - can't bear them

Smurfgirl · 09/02/2005 15:45

The loan ones that imply that having a bad credit history is something you have nothing to do with. So you have been given credit in the past and proved you are unreliable in paying it back? HOW MEAN.

I know there are exceptions, but it really bugs me!
