ITV has picked up ‘The Rainmaker (https://www.geektown.co.uk/tvairdates/the-rainmaker/)’, the latest television adaptation of John Grisham’s bestselling legal thriller, with the ten-part drama coming to ITV1

The series follows Rudy Baylor, a freshly qualified lawyer who unexpectedly finds himself going head-to-head with courtroom heavyweight Leo Drummond.

Making matters even more complicated, Rudy’s law school girlfriend, Sarah, is working on the opposing side.

After joining forces with his unconventional new boss, Bruiser, and her rather dishevelled paralegal, Deck, Rudy begins investigating the mysterious death of a client’s son.

What initially appears to be a straightforward legal battle soon exposes two connected conspiracies, placing the inexperienced attorney against opponents with considerably more money, power and courtroom experience.

Milo Callaghan (Rivals, Dune: Prophecy) leads the cast as Rudy Baylor, alongside John Slattery(Mad Men, Spotlight) as Leo Drummond, Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time, Why Women Kill) as Bruiser Stone, Madison Iseman (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Sarah Plankmore and P.J. Byrne (The Boys, Big Little Lies) as Deck Shifflet.

The cast also includes Dan Fogler (The Walking Dead, Fantastic Beasts), Wade Briggs(Foundation, His Dark Materials) and Robyn Cara (Bodkin, Trying).

This is not the first time Grisham’s 1995 novel has made the leap to the screen. It was previously adapted into the 1997 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with Matt Damon playing Rudy alongside Danny DeVito, Claire Danes, Jon Voight and Mickey Rourke.

The television version gives the story considerably more room to breathe across ten episodes and was developed by Michael Seitzman (Code Black, Intelligence) and Jason Richman (Stumptown, Detroit 1-8-7). Seitzman also serves as showrunner.

Ooh I've taken to Rudy

purpleme12 · 21/09/2026 22:47

I'm rooting for him

SanFairyAnnie · 25/09/2026 22:30

Whats happened tonight? Just checked the next recording and it's not there. has it moved to another time slot?

purpleme12 · 25/09/2026 22:39

Huh

This is weird

I can't find the next episode scheduled anywhere

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2026 22:40

Oh ffs. Don’t say it’s only showing on itv x now

weird they havnt showed 5

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 25/09/2026 22:42

Well, they've shown 4 on Tele

But that doesn't make sense. They never stop showing it halfway through the series.
Sometimes they put the first episode on Tele but no more so you have to watch the rest on streaming.
But I've never known them show a few episodes and then no more

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2026 21:59

It doesn’t. Very weird. Doesn’t look like it’s on next week either

so do we watch on itvx or wait. A week or two incase comes back

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 26/09/2026 22:10

I can't help thinking it won't be on normal Tele again

But I've no idea why they've done this

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2026 22:48

I was going to watch e5 via itvx but I’m tired and off to bed so will watch tomorrow I think

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 26/09/2026 22:57

I'll watch it another day cos I do want to see what happens

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2026 12:34

I will attempt to watch e5 today …..

FYI. I did binge watch on ITVx so didn’t notice tge scheduling issue. For what it’s worth I did think it was worth watching to the end.

PerdreLeBleu · 27/09/2026 13:19

According to Google it’s in effect the TV equivalent of click bait. They want to get you hooked then go and see the rest of the episodes on ITVx.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2026 15:19

Oh really @PerdreLeBleu. How weird and annoying

im fine to use itvx and don’t pay so what gain would they have

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 27/09/2026 15:26

Yes what would they gain from it if this is what they're doing

PerdreLeBleu · 27/09/2026 15:37

I think they want you to pay for the ad free version. You can’t put it on without a pop up asking you to pay. But I don’t actually mind the ads and I think the exclusive stuff ends up on the main ITVx anyway.

purpleme12 · 27/09/2026 15:44

Yeah I will never pay for ad free so it's a bit stupid them thinking that's what it will do

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2026 17:25

Same as @purpleme12. I would never pay for it and use ads to have a wee /pack up the dw after tea etc

Ok. I have seen e5

so I will watch on ITVX

OP posts:
SanFairyAnnie · 02/10/2026 16:32

I'm going to catch up on the last 2 on ITVX after The traitors tonight.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2026 18:17

Is it 7 then

so we have 6&7 to go

OP posts:
Freysimo · 03/10/2026 08:23

It's a shame as we liked it, but I'm not watching on clunky ITVX with same old adverts.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2026 12:10

Just think of it watching live and adverts pop the kettle or have a wee etx
