He's been brilliant this week on breakfast TV tackling the whole prisoner early release issue.

RedRiverShore6 · 05/08/2026 18:14

I quite like him, I don't watch the morning news show but liked him on I'm a celebrity and Richard and Judy.

He's actually surprisingly good at political interviews. I think it's because he's so shamelessly unbothered about making things awkward, so he has no qualms about asking blunt questions and pushing them for answers.

Although he looks absurd these days, and is frequently more Partridge than Partridge, I feel I must defend him because I met him a couple of times in a previous job 20-ish years ago and to my great surprise he was absolutely LOVELY. Properly nice and friendly, and also incredibly kind to a shy work experience teenager who was accompanying me on one occasion.

Yes-I remember the “prepared to say anything” vibe. He once had the Starsky&Hutch actors on and said to Paul Michael Glaser “What’s it like being acted off the screen week in and week out?” They were a little shocked!🤣

That is so rude. Apart from anything else Paul Michael Glaser was my heartthrob and wasn't out acted by anyone.

I thought he was awful. He really needs to shut up and let other people speak. We can listen to him anytime.

TheignT · 05/08/2026 18:22

I so agree on the Alan Partridge thing. He's like a caricature of a caricature.

LlynTegid · 05/08/2026 18:24

Myswweetchild · 05/08/2026 17:28

I'm pretty sure I read that Alan Partridge was based on a mix of Madeley and Richard Whitely - may he RIP.

Allegedly a local radio presenter from Norfolk called Wally Webb was an inspiration for the character.

Oh no don't tell me there's two of them.

I saw today that Hammond, Clarkson and May are coming back with a new Grand Tour cameo appearance soon.

I’m not that fussed with Top Gear but some of them are surprisingly watchable.

It's not about cars really, is it? It's a buddy movie. 😂

Charlize43 · 05/08/2026 18:04

Should we be commenting about his appearance?

I recall several women getting very very frothy on the Lilly Allen thread because I said her boob job looked wonky...

I didn't comment on his appearance, I commented on his demeanour.

JacknDiane · 05/08/2026 18:50

Need a pic, Google isn't showing much

RedRiverShore6 · 05/08/2026 18:53

He is a bit of a loose cannon, Judy must have been permanently on edge on Richard and Judy.

PuppyMonkey · 05/08/2026 19:01

I’m sure they’ve mentioned his amazing hair when he’s presented the show before and he says it’s entirely natural. I do enjoy it when he’s on TBH.

Photos????

Culpeper · 05/08/2026 19:06

He’s an absolute buffoon, but I’m quite fond on him and his Princess Di hair.

goingtotown · 05/08/2026 19:10

His hair lightens naturally every summer.

Not that much! How come it didn’t do this in the past?

RedRiverShore6 · 05/08/2026 19:28

Actually my hair isn't far off that colour, sort of a faded blonde grey, as I have got older it's got lighter but only proper grey round the edges. I'm in the same age group as him

Learningdutch · 05/08/2026 19:36

70? Just had to ask Alexa to check!

Somersetbaker · 05/08/2026 20:06

At least he won't get recognised in Tesco.

susiedaisy1912 · 05/08/2026 20:09

I don’t think that photo is that bad. 🤷🏻‍♀️

SidekickSylvia · 05/08/2026 20:10

To be fair, he looks good for 70. He seems harmless enough, and it's refreshing to see an interviewer being robust with politicians.

the80sweregreat · 05/08/2026 20:11

My dh wishes he had his hair !
He look weird if he went bald , but obviously lucky not to!

DishingTheDirt · 05/08/2026 20:14

I think they must have a poor standard of hair stylist on set. Not only was his hair sticking out at the back but Kate Garraways hair also looked awful the other day. It had obviously annoying her as she kept moving her hair to the side out of her face.

the80sweregreat · 05/08/2026 20:23

Kate garraway has thick hair and ( possibly) a double crown too. I have a double crown and it’s a nightmare with heavy hair as it all tends to flop forwards.
