We will probably need another thread before the weekend anyway- but these are important questions.

Yes, and people’s skin too! Some people looked like they might suffer later 🫣

I don’t know what it is about Czech players but they always get me in the gut!

I know what you mean.

Ready for tomorrow now. But I feel like it could be one way traffic.

It’s hoping for a bit of Sascha swearing in the speeches at least!

They all seem to be such lovely, genuine people. I can’t think of a single Czech player with villainous vibes. Many of them are from quite humble backgrounds too, which generally isn’t the case for British players.

That was so beautiful to watch, loved the ending as well of the BBC coverage showing the viewpoint of the ballgirl getting ready😍

They play each other so often, that they are used to the speeches and stuff now, so it's likely to be a lot more light hearted than some of the trophy ceremonies. Even though, if Sascha loses, he will be disappointed- having won at RG , it will hurt a bit less. But he will be a ot more confident that he can win, too.

One of the things they don't get to do at Wimbledon, is spray champagne about. So there will be no fumbling with bottles . Grin.

A clip of the AO 2025 final presentation came up on instagram today and it was so emotional - Sascha was so upset and Jannik was so lovely.

I know it comes up a lot, but I do think that mostly the blokes seem to get on better than the women.

I'm not sure why it is. I get being competitive and disappointed but sometimes there is down right rudeness (Sabalenka is a prime example-and Serena. ).

Today was different, Karo and Linda are genuinely friends. But being disappointed and losing another final is going to hurt- it was no wonder Sasha was upset.

More irritating was seeing Roger cry at AO in 2009. There was no bloody need for that. Grin

Any time Roger cried after a final it just made me laugh - sorry not sorry

Oh me too. 2009 made me cross though - he had alread won AO, what 3 times? . he has umpteen titles to his name- and was acting like Rafa had ruined his life.
Plus, it was the start to what (in hindsight) was a bad year for Rafa- so boo! Roger. Grin

Every time they show him winning in 2003 and crying with Sue I laugh.

I do like his sense of humour though. Apparently Roddick texted him when he was sitting all alone in the royal box to ask what was going on and he replied just watching the tennis, hanging out with all my friends Grin

Raahh · 11/07/2026 22:34

Roger has grown on me over the years. I love his friendship with Rafa.
But for a long time , I just found him annoying- and a bit smug.

I don’t mind Roger - underneath his smoothness I think he’s a bit geeky and yes I do love his and Rafa’s friendship - I did also like his tennis - wasn’t too keen on the cardi though!

It sounds as if the women’s final was a bit of a rollercoaster yesterday - I’ve seen a bit of Linda’s speech - retiring tennis players and speeches at the end of tournaments always seem to get me these days

Sort of looking forward to the men’s final later - hope it’s a good one but not sure if it will be

I felt like that about Sampras. Such a bore fest watching him hit ace after ace

Sampras is by one one of the dullest champions ever. I am not a fan of Djok -at all- but he gives me something to moan about Grin. But Pistol Pete was just yawnsome. And never pust his flobby tongue away<yuck>.

There are other players that have big serves (goes with the territory these day) that I do like- and the fact they serve dozens of aces is not the only part of their game.

Fizzy I don't often prefer the women's final to the men's (unless Djok is involved)- but I'm not too fussed about today really. I do hope it's a good match- but I think it could end up being a bit of a clinical win for Jannik. I hope I'm wrong.

Off to watch Alfie playing Tokito Oda in the wheelchair final in a couple of minutes.

I know. Sad It's been a strange tournament in some ways- no rain, few delays- so many seeds out early, or missing from the start. Still ended up with the top 1/2 in the final for the men.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 12/07/2026 11:35

Raahh · 12/07/2026 11:46

Come on Alfie- get a break back.

Rapidly getting away from Alfie- Tokito really does have the measure of him on grass.

Last year's final was much closer- I wonder if Alfie is injured ur just exhausted. The weather can't have helped this week.

Well done Tokito. Very comprehensive win.
It was really not Alfie's day.
