I am the last person to blindly support the Brits (I always had better players to support than Tim or Andy) but to suggest the Brits were always crap is slightly unfair. Jeremy Bates didn't win much, granted .

Jeremy Bates. I saw him play in an exhibition match in Spain about 8 years ago. He was playing against the club pros, who were more than 30 years younger than him, but he wiped the floor with them!!

kazza I saw Jeremy play a few times at Didsbury, when there was still a tournament there, because it's local. He won the title there a couple of times. it was also where they played Davis Cup- and he famously blew a huge lead.

If you are thinking of the default because of hitting a ball girl, it was actually Tim Henman who did that (by accident) they were playing doubles together. The pair were defaulted.
