Just watched all six episodes. I’m conflicted on it. Love Nicola Walker but felt the tone was all wrong. Is it meant to be a black comedy ? Some really heavy storylines delivered in it but without the care of something like Cold Feet. Curious to know what others thought.

We binged it all in one evening and really loved it. Was unsure about the whole premise but I laughed out loud at some points. Her character frustrated me but I thought it made a great change for her.

I found it really frustrating. I can see how the premise would work if they hadn’t met before, but he’s literally known Izzy since she was a newborn, which is just grim.

Love Nicola Walker too . Watched it all , but just found it a bit annoying to be honest . It got a bit silly when they were trying to outdo each other to get revenge .
I was slightly on board with the whole premise - her friend sleeping with her daughter . But the more I think about it - it is uncomfortable . I think for me the main issue is that; if they were truly best friends and had known each other for decades , he would have seen the daughter throughout her life growing up . That’s the bit I struggle with , a bit like Woody Allen marrying his partner’s adopted daughter . Everyone else seemed to take it in their stride other than Alice though .

I gave up half way through when the teenage girl was having a crisis about love on the bridge. Just couldn’t be bothered anymore. The whole thing was weird and very creepy. I’ve no problem with the age gap but yeah, when you’ve known someone since they were born and watched them grow up, it’s borderline incest. 🤢

Middlemarch123 · 12/06/2026 20:38

I suppose the premise was to make us uncomfortable? It was weird, I love Nicola Walker, but her character grated, was over the top, she does subtle so well, but even her mannerisms seemed exaggerated. Maybe it’s just me. Didn’t think there was enough chemistry between Steve and Alice’s daughter either. Just didn’t work for me.

The whole premise is ick.

I started off really liking it but am losing interest now they're trying to outdo each other. The Greek boyfriend has a really terrible accent too which is jarring and distracting.

Yeah, I couldn't really get past that, tbh. It's a shame as I'm a big fan of Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords but thought he was really underused and dull. And I did enjoy Nicola Walker's performance and thought her character was interesting but ultimately all the characters were pretty unlikeable and the central premise was so grim it made for an uncomfortable watch.

I can’t even watch the trailer. The way she goes ‘anyone would be LARKY to have’ya’ like she is a Cockney queen put me right off. And I love Nicola Walker in most things (barring Anneka which has the most annoying breaking of the fourth wall I have ever seen).

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 17/06/2026 23:16

I've gone right off Nicola Walker tbh, it's like she's eating her words and if she's not doing that she's sighing.
