As title! If you don't have/missed this on netflix, I implore you to watch it.

It is funny and warm and lovely. Perfect comfort tv that you can rewatch and find new things to laugh at every time.

(And I have a personal soft spot for all the b roll of the calm summer scenes as well.)

Wait what?
Can we BE this lucky?
I've just cancelled Netflix because they took it off.

creamcheeseandlox · 06/06/2026 14:53

Yes. I started watching it on Netflix gor to season two then it came off. I shall continue on bbc

GingerRuby · 07/06/2026 00:14

Such a brilliant show, funny, feel good plus the fabulous Catherine O'Hara and her star turn as Moira. The outfits, the accent, the wigs, sorry the girls. Bring it on little bebe crows.

beguilingeyes · 07/06/2026 14:27

This is amazing. I was scrambling to rewatch it on Netflix. I'd only got to Season 4 and now it's on iPlayer. Gawd bless the BBC!

Triskellion75 · 07/06/2026 14:51

When I started watching it, someone told me they were jealous of me getting to experience SC for the first time. It's perfection.

RumbleHoney · 07/06/2026 14:53

Yay! I discovered it during lockdown and it was my tonic.

RIP Catherine O’Hara, X🙏

AgentPidge · 07/06/2026 14:56

Thanks! A friend is always raving about this so I'll have a look.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 07/06/2026 14:59

I've never seen it. I've not really taken in anything about it except that one of the stars died recently. So - tell me about it? And why I should give it a go? TIA. 🙂
ETA - just looked, the episodes are very short! Wasn't expecting that!

KeyLimeCake · 07/06/2026 15:52

I think you need to watch half the first series before making your mind up. And by the end of series 2, it has cemented itself into greatest thing ever, and yet it somehow keeps improving.

I watched episode 1 again recently and I was surprised how stereotypical and unlikeable the characters were. Characters that have all grown into literally my favourite people.

I am envious of people watching it for the first time. But it stands up so well to a rewatch that I still feel I get stuff out of it on a third watch.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 07/06/2026 17:56

Thanks @KeyLimeCake, you've convinced me to give it a go! 😂

Chocolattecoffeecup · 07/06/2026 17:57

I noticed this today. I have Netflix but no ads on bbc!

Triskellion75 · 07/06/2026 22:46

Top tip, don't let Roland put you off!

Jitterybugs2 · 07/06/2026 22:54

Thanks for the tip off. I loved it first time round and will definitely watch it again. I remember it took me about 2 episodes to really get into it then I was hooked.

AgentPidge · 08/06/2026 10:24

I watched three episodes last night. The characters have grown on me and I love them! There's some quite subtle stuff there. I can see it's going to be good.

Doubtless the episodes are short because there aren't ads - brilliant!

MotherofPufflings · 08/06/2026 10:27

It took me 3 attempts to get past the first 2 episodes the first time, but then I binged it in a shamefully short time.

Feeling a bit low today so a few episodes of this will be the perfect pick-me-up - thanks @singthing

sweetpickle2 · 08/06/2026 10:27

It's a brilliant show- maybe one of the most perfectly cast programmes, everyone in it is absolutely 10/10.

Agree don't let the first few eps put you off, it's really one of the best written and most heartwarmingly lovely shows ever made.

They’re always the perfect pick me up! Smile

Ah, such a wonderful show. We watched in lockdown I think but might rewatch.

What does this mean though please? What is b roll?

And I have a personal soft spot for all the b roll of the calm summer scenes as well

susiedaisy1912 · 10/06/2026 18:02

Love SC one of my favourite comfort shows. You wont love the characters in the first few episodes but you’ll come to love them.

heartsinvisiblefury · 10/06/2026 18:03

It’s the best feel good programme out there

cupfinalchaos · 10/06/2026 18:08

Transformed lockdown for me.

MaggieBsBoat · 10/06/2026 18:08

This has been on my list to watch for ages! Thanks!

MrsMitford3 · 10/06/2026 18:17

It was highly recommended to me by a very good friend-watched the first episode or 2 and thought "well she doesn't get my humour after all"

After about a year I went back after so many raved about it and stuck with it and I absolutely loved it.
Catherine O'Hara is superb but the whole cast are brilliant!!!!

The first season the weakest and Roland is very off putting initially but it all settles and it is one of the best ever.
I re-watch constantly (but often skip season one 😂)

edited to say sorry to malign season one-it is important to set it up but it is honestly just hilarious and touching and clever

The sort of in between shots between scenes of eg the scenery or the town.
