I don’t think soaps need to raise awareness of every social problem , just some nice light episodes for those that want a bit of escapism ?

That’s what we all want but the writers think we need these issue based plots

The problem is that they are shite at raising awareness. The last time they did an issue lead story that was good was Ashley’s dementia. Everything since then ended up descending into complete nonsense.

The dementia story line was excellent.

The only good thing about this storyline is that Emma Atkins is an excellent actor. But I really don't like this at all.

It started as a surrogacy story, then we had cheating, bullying in the workplace, blackmail and now this horrible story added on.

I know Todd isn't a practising doctor any more but wouldn't she get into trouble for using confidential medical information for other purposes?

Most definitely. She was forced to retire early because of Jacob bringing the bullying complaint so all Charity has to do is go to the police with all her text messages.

@PrincessScarlett she could and should but that would deprive us of the drama the writers think we want

I wonder what storyline she will get for ML .

Or they might think up some ridiculous wedding planning story for her.

I've seen it but wouldn't say it's graphic.
I hope Charity tells someone but it would probably be a case of her word against Todd's.

Why does every story have to be so depressing?

Oh poor Cain. Can we not have happy times?

If that's true about Cain, I'm close to giving up on this miserable heap of shite.

This thread is the only thing that keeps me watching.

I definitely miss the thread more than the programme when I don’t watch it.

Emmerdale are taking a huge risk with the Cain cancer story. Cain is one of the most popular characters and viewers will switch off if things get much worse for him.
