Looks like the old thread is ending and I had a Jannik-panic Grin.

Vamos! Rafa.

Very well done. Michelsen played his part- Jodar proved he does have the stamina.

Yay! Well done Rafa.

I’m struggling to watch Djokovic. He’s playing very well and now Jannik’s gone he knows he has a real chance of another major. I want Sacha to win as he deserves a major.

Raahh · Yesterday 16:34

He really is a lovely lad. I can't wrap my head around him being the same age as DD2 .

And get the fans onside with some football chat. Well done.

Djok is 2 sets up.

Bollocks.

ChessieFL · Yesterday 16:36

Djok had a go at the cameraman getting too close at the changeover (to be fair he probably has a point - it must be quite intrusive having cameras on you all the time when you’re trying to concentrate on a match).

Raahh · Yesterday 16:37

My only hope, is that (if he gets through today), Casper beats Djok next round. He's beaten him before- but only once. It was on clay though, but a couple of years back in MC.

The other thing that is getting on nerves- tthere is an annoying 'sigh' noise when we go to an ad break.

Google tells me, it's something to with Perrier, and it's a 'sigh and the sound of fizz from a bottle'

Well I don't care , it's bloody irritating is what it is. Grin

Mensik about to start his match against AdM- I hope he has recovered from the other day- he really was completely exhausted, and taken off court in a wheel chair.

He can't discretely take his dodgy juice etc if the cameraman is too close Chessie Hmm

roxyro · Yesterday 17:07

Well done Fonseca. Bloody Djokovic always seems to know where the ball is going!

True.

I'm not sure Jakub is fully recovered from the other day, even if he thinks he is.

Ok Joao.

Raahh · Yesterday 17:37

Casper not starting well . Hopefully he can settle in. I really don't like Tommy Paul. Grin

Not had chance to watch any tennis today until now - come on Joao!

DH is out tonight so I might watch some of the Rafa doc - he said that I could start watching without him Grin

Although hopefully this match will go to five sets with Joao to win

It is indeed Perrier - over here (France) we get a Perrier ad every break, as well as Renault & Carapelli (an olive oil) as they are sponsors. Very boring. But we get Justine Henin commentating & she is great. As is Mahut who has joined the team this year.

I'm flipping through anumber of channels.

They were discussing in the studio that Vallejo complained after his match yesterday about the umpiring, and the way the crowd were handled - and because he stated he thought a man would have handled things better he is likely to be fined. He said his comments were out of context. Jo and Mats thought a fine would be harsh.

''Adolfo Daniel Vallejo has sparked controversy by saying his French Open second-round match should not have been umpired by a woman, because the Brazilian Ana Carvalho was unable to keep home supporters in check.
Vallejo was facing the French teenager Moïse Kouamé on Thursday in what turned out to be one of the matches of the tournament so far. Kouamé, 17, was roared on by compatriots on Court Suzanne Lenglen, eventually winning 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6 (8) after four hours and 56 minutes.

Vallejo was unhappy with the time Kouamé was allowed to take between points and argued Carvalho, an experienced official, was not strong enough to control the crowd.
Speaking to Clay magazine, the Paraguayan said: “This sort of match needs to be umpired by a man, it’s very difficult for a woman to do it. It has to be refereed by a man, because it’s a very demanding crowd and you need a lot of strength to go against the crowd.”
Players are allowed to take 25 seconds between points, with a clock counting down on the scoreboard, but umpires can use discretion as to when to start the countdown if there is a lot of noise from the crowd.

“The crowd was very out of line, but I understand they are supporting their compatriot,” added Vallejo. “It’s quite an intense crowd and that’s why I was prepared. I already knew it would be like that and, to be honest, it didn’t harm me, but rather strengthened him.
“I think he took up a lot of time on many occasions, lying on the floor or stalling. And it’s not normal for the crowd to be shouting for a full minute without any play. In a match where the physical aspect matters so much, if you give a player a lot of time, he’s obviously going to take advantage of it.”
Tournament organisers have been contacted for comment.

‘This sort of match needs a man’: Vallejo criticises female umpire at French Open

Adolfo Daniel Vallejo said Ana Carvalho did not control the home crowd, giving Moïse Kouamé an advantage, as the Frenchman won their match

Right, come on Casper.

Don't let him win another set.

OP posts:
Raahh · Yesterday 18:47

These are 2 stressful matches for different reasons Grin. One is stressful, because I really want Djok to lose, and the other one is, because I really want Casper to win (and can't stand Tommy Paul). I don't even want to watch it really, TP's face annoys me nearly as much as Djok's does Grin.

Mensik has totally turned his match around, after losing the first set 0-6 .

Into a 5th for Joao and Djok.

VAMOS Joao.

Yikes 2 sets all in the Djok/Fonseca match - I think I’m finally getting the hype!
