Looks like the old thread is ending and I had a Jannik-panic Grin.

Yes it did look like a bit of a struggle for the umpire Jane Grin

I’m now trying to watch both matches at the same time

Me too Grin.

Jannik is on a bit of fight back.

Could be too late for Jannik- and a bit of a disaster for the tournament, with so many seeds already not playing/ beaten early. Especially one already missing Carlos.

Match point for cerundolo

IceandIndigo · 28/05/2026 14:46

Poor Jannik, I’m not a particular fan but I really feel for him.

ticktock19 · 28/05/2026 14:46

He’s got it

Raahh · 28/05/2026 14:47

Wow. well done to Cerudolo the Younger.

But- blimey. Jannik. Sad

Wow! Well done JMC - he did well to hold his nerve (although he didn’t even look nervous!)

ChessieFL · 28/05/2026 14:49

Poor Jannik.

I really don’t want Djok to win but not sure who will be able to stop him now.

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2026 14:49

Poor Jannik. Well done Juan.

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2026 14:51

Tiebreak for maximum drama

On Friday, Chessie- we are all Brazilian.

How do you say 'Let's go Joao' in Portuguese? Actually it's vamos.

The atmosphere at this match has been amazing.

The umpire will be having a large drink with her lunch.

ChessieFL · 28/05/2026 14:58

Vamos Vamos Vamos Vamos Vamos Joao! I am very happy to be Brazilian for the day (although I do not look remotely Brazilian!)

Raahh · 28/05/2026 14:58

It's a 10 point tie break, isn't it?

I have to remind myself.

Grin

It was yesterday Raahh! But I wouldn’t put it past them to have different tiebreaks for men and women, or for different sets/rounds, just to confuse us!

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2026 15:00

I have to remind myself that Vallejo is only 22 😅

Raahh · 28/05/2026 15:00

No, I am very much a short, pasty Brit Grin.

Bugger!! I said to DS yesterday, the only thing that will beat Sinner is the weather! Didn't watch the match but I'm assuming it was heat related?? If so, I can't believe his team haven't got to the bottom of this problem and made sure he was better prepared physically. It's not the first time it's happened! He was one game away from a straight sets win.

It's the Serb's to lose now, isn't it! I can't see anyone beating him, certainly not Zverev! He'll be even more unbearable, with an outright GS record. Ffs, I'm so depressed Angry

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2026 15:06

Well done Moise

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2026 15:07

Great match from Dani as well

Raahh · 28/05/2026 15:07

Well done Kouame- I missed a set, but the rest was great. I do feel for Dani, he really played his part. It was a quality match, with a brilliant atmosphere.

Wow well done to both players - that was the most exciting half hour of tennis that I’ve seen in ages - I can relate to him putting his head in the fridge!

Hopefully the heat and the Brazilian crowd will get to Djok (although I think it will be a night match)

We have to hope Djok is a victim of his own ego, kazza- which has happened before when he plays players he has not met before.

I agree that Jannik and these drops in his conditioning seem to happen too often. He gets ill a lot, it may be the heat- but he plays in the heat in other countries.

How did he lose from the lead he had- it was like a complete mental block, as well as a physical crash.

But Cerundolo did well to keep going , against a player who was in agony.

Honestly, that was just like pure electricity. It felt like there was going to be a bullfight between ends with those crowds.
I kept thinking, well it’s been a while since I’ve been on the edge of my seat like that.
Reminded me of first watching Rafa thinking how on earth is this possible?
He showed true champion spirit at the end there, the stuff you normally see from very seasoned winners.
It would be fantastic to see some names became big names to match the current big two.
