Tyson is very dumb but I think his views are too deeply ingrained in him with his family and religion (he’s Catholic) so they’d be hard to change.

Unless he wants to change, he won't change. It's like quitting a cult, there needs to be actual will and desire to change following a realisation.

I'm Christian ( although C of E, not RC) and I don't subscribe to any of Tyson's views. And I cant think of a single Christian friend who does either. Maybe it's different in Aus?

Catholic men though (I’m not Catholic) can be a bit like Tyson, I’ve known some like him, maybe not quite as extreme.
