Is anyone watching the reruns of the Waltons on Great Tv? I’m loving it. I haven’t seen it since the 1980s.

Michael was a female biblical character and it's not uncommon in the American bible belt. The Bates family have a daughter called Michael.

I used to love The Walton's growing up, I used to feign illness on a Sunday to get out of church to watch it. I bought a DVD set last year to watch with my teen DD, who'd heard so much about it, but she didn't think much of the rampant misogyny and John Boy forcing a kiss on a girl and then telling her it was his right because he wanted to Hmm

We were raised on them , I've rewatched many times since childhood. Even though I've seen them all I'll still sit and watch them anytime I'm flicking through the stations. I'm interested to see the new little house that is coming to Netflix but there is no replacing michael landon as Pa

Yes, it was an after Sunday morning mass and before dinner phenomenon here, too. Also Little House on the Prairie.

Freaked out the other day realising that actress playing Grandma Walton was 65. She seemed like 100 when I was young watching it on TV, I am 64 🤦‍♀️

She had a small part in its a wonderful life, she looked like an old woman in that too, not sure what year that would have been

Yes, she was only 35 in It's a Wonderful Life, but she always tended get cast to play characters who were older than her -- often 'old maid' busybody type characters.

She was a great character actress , much like Angela lansbury playing mother to people only a couple of years younger than her .

Yes, indeed. I think you have to have absolutely no vanity being a character actress.

Did anyone ever watch The Sullivans? Australian soap opera that used to be on around the same time as The Waltons. I vaguely remember it was on around lunchtime.

Loved that as well as The Waltons and Little House.

Loved The Waltons on a Sunday, and Land of the Giants... anyone remember that?

I remember it being on TV, but I don't think I ever watched it -- my only strong memory of it is the opening credits, where the family are lined up for a formal group photo on the street, the two older sons are wearing sort of Fair Isle sleeveless jumpers, and the girl pulls the younger boy's cap down over his eyes and runs away with him chasing her... At the end, the dad puts on this terribly stern face for the photo (which child me found frightening).

I plan to rewatch from the beginning at some point! I might do Little House On The Prairie too.

Yes land of the giants , and lost in space. Land of the giants was shown lately on one of the sky stations . Great memories of Channel 4 on a Sunday

I watched a load of reruns back in 2010/11. Can't remember what channel they were on. I had just moved out and was a little homesick, so it was comfort telly.

Yes I think I watched if I was ill and off school (and on Fridays, when we only did a half day for some reason). The Sullivans, Pebble Mill at One and a lunch of a kipper and some brown bread and butter 😂
