Born 71, had to get up to change the channel. I remember visiting a friend of my parents and they had a remote with two buttons on it. One went through the three channels and the other was mute. I remember having a black and white portable tv with an ariel that you would adjust and a dial to change the channel in my bedroom

I was born in the mid 80s and we had a tv with a remote from the early 90s I’d guess. But for some reason we didn’t use it 😂😂😂 not sure if my parents didn’t want the expense of batteries (we weren’t hard up), my mum had concern about radio waves in the living room (likely) or they were just worried we’d lose it, but it sat high up on a shelf and we had to get up and manually change the channel 😂 I’d forgotten about that for over 30 years haha.

Ours was black and white with two channels and had an aerial on the back. The ‘modus operandi’ was 1) fiddle with the nobs, 2) twist/pull/turn the aerial, then, if neither of those things ‘stopped the fuzz’, 3) thump it hard several times 👌🏻😂

Neither because there was only one channel!

I was born in 1966. We had a black and white telly - it was a special Redifusion telly which looked slightly different to normal tellys and it was all done through cables or something. I was the official channel changer although tbh, we didn’t actually switch between the three channels very often, we usually just sat there and watched whatever came on in those days. Mostly it was on ITV as I recall, and nobody minded the adverts because they were quite entertaining. Grin

I think we got a colour TV in about 1980. But I was still the channel changer.
