Thanks for thread @Choux. Just caught up on DP and after show.
While Joel handled himself v well at DP, he does generally appear to self-sabotage. Seems to think he’s a surrealist (e.g. the drumming) but it lands more as Colin the Office Clown. The vows, the speech, his mum’s speech, the teddy. He has an attitude of: ‘This is who I am, take me or leave me’. Seems lost on him most people would feel uncomfortable/put off (romantically, at v least) and would choose the ‘leave him to it’ option. He deliberately plays up things that are likely to come across as off-putting (e.g. beard, teddy), then seems bemused she’s not interested.
In some ways, he’s just as uncompromising and disrespectful as Tyson. The attitude is they’re not going to put other people at ease by holding back, considering their needs or showing an interest in their views. Because it’s all about them being uncompromisingly ‘true to themselves’. Julia a bit the same.
No excuse for Juliette’s behaviour, though. Shocking. And notice Gia was beside her with her big stirring spoon and cackle, as usual.
