Ok that was a gut punch! What a lovely family. Such an awful diagnosis. Really interesting to see the things like contrast door frames and light switches.

Terrible diagnosis for such a relatively young guy. I think the show did well to highlight things that help someone with progressing dementia symptoms. However, from a SYLO perspective, it was a disappointing episode. 3 adult children with a poorly dad and a mum working full-time plus caring for her husband? I didn't blame the parents one bit but it was clear that the issues were that the kids weren't pulling their weight. 2 adult sons and a mum struggling with all the DIY - pretty shameful actually that they hadn't taken that burden from her. There was also far less 'real' clutter and mess. Some of the house was perfect - the tidy garden and neat shed were a real giveaway! It's not often on this show that you can see quite so obviously staged messes but this was one. I hope the other episodes are better from this perspective.

Yes I guess so (certainly the staged messes) but it also looked like the son had perhaps a learning disability or another specific vulnerability.

I watched this immediately after series 5 last episode which was even better I have to say!

just place marking, love SYLO catching up on ep 1 of this series now, might binge watch the other series again

I agree this episode felt different - there was a lot less of the organising and building new storage shown than there usually is. I think this was chosen more for the story than the clutter. That could be really useful for raising awareness and giving an insight into how organising and decluttering can be more than just things looking nice. They did seem like a really nice family.

It was a bit of a cross between DIY SOS and SYLO - with moving the bedrooms around to better suit needs, and the utility downstairs. There was still a lot of stuff to get rid of (trinkets etc) so I think that felt genuine.

It was a real eye opener for me about the emotional side of living with Alzheimer’s and seeming feeling less affectionate. Brave of the family to do it, and I wish them well.

Gotta say it brought me to tears when he read his poem, and again when Trish said he doesn’t hug her anymore. I learned a lot from this episode. I’m glad they took advice from experts and it was good to see a house that wasn’t bursting at the seams, just needed a damn good sort out- which is exactly what they did.

Just watched this weeks. What a lovely woman and daughter and how wonderful to have two such close friends.

Agree 🩷

Weren’t they wonderful ❤️

Theyve definitely maximised the emotion this series. Got to say I always cried at he past ones as well (unless Joe or Stacy’s dad or other hangers on turned up).

Just watched the latest episode too. Very moving, and I appreciated Stacey letting us in on the fact that they’ll actually keep Marcus’ things in storage for a while in case she changes her mind. Such wonderful friends supporting them too.
