CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in March 2008.

Wow soooo much has happened since the last thread was started - almost a year ago... We were in June 2006, and now we're in March 2008.

Keith was still in the street then, (who was dating Audrey,) and had just been booted out of his house by Charlie Stubbs. Now Charlie is dead after being killed by TracyLuv who is in prison now, and is never seen!

Les Battersby left in 2007 after going to work as a roadie with a band.

Ronnie was in it (Steve's girlfriend at the time) and was trying to set Steve up for a hit and run she had done. And Lloyd had just joined. Streetcars.

Mike Baldwin had just died. (Early 2006.)

Leanne Battersby and Mike's son Danny Baldwin were still together (after he left his wife Frankie for Leanne.). And in late 2006 Danny's son Jamie Baldwin (who was dating barmaid Violet Wilson) started having an affair with Danny's ex - wife Frankie... (His stepmum!) Obviously Violet finished with him.

Now Jamie has just left the street with Violet, (after they made it up,) with a baby she has had with Sean Tully. (Sean and Violet were platonic friends.) Sean is distraught that they have left, and he doesn't know where they've gone.

Janice and Cilla were at each others throats, but now Cilla has gone - to live in Las Vegas, leaving poor Chesney with Kirk and Fiz.

Amber had just arrived back then - Dev's daughter, and now she's part of the furniture!

Ashley was fighting for the right to keep Joshua after his bio dad Matt said he wants him. They had a court order for Matt to have access, but Matt has hardly been seen since!

Poor old Fred Elliot has died! (October 2006.) He was just about to marry Shelley's mum Bev too. Ashley's butcher shop is starting to have problems. (Financially.) Bev and Shelley are no longer on the street.

And now we have Tina McIntrye who only came into Corrie a few weeks ago, and is with David Platt, and currently pregnant by him!

The Mortons joined not long ago, and have the kebab shop, and new owners of the bookies have surfaced. Father and son. (Harry and Dan.) Both currently sort of dating Kelly Crabtree and her long legs! But Dan is starting to have eyes for Leanne.

Jason and Sarah got married in late 2007, but it didn't last long, after Jason saw Sarah as spoilt and selfish, and uncaring (after her brother David ran his car into the canal and she only cared about her wedding.) David was offered a job with his uncle Stephen (In Milan,) and Sarah tricked Stephen into thinking David was a drug addict, and she had the job instead! (David had had some drugs a little while back that Bethany had accidently eaten, so Stephen believed Sarah.) Jason and Sarah have now split and Sarah is now living in Milan with uncle Stephen, and she's taken Bethany with her!

Vera Duckworth died very suddenly just a few weeks ago, leaving Jack devastated. His grandson Paul - and Molly and Tyrone have been consoling him. Although Paul did just steal £3000 off Jack via a betting slip that Jack had lost and Paul found. So he takes after his father - Terry!

Big Jim McDonald came back after trying to stop Elizabeth (his ex wife Liz) from marrying Vernon. The slightly-annoying-and-ever-so-bonkers-but-still-nice-and-stable musician she has been dating for a while (on and off!) They were dating for a while, then Liz had an affair with Derek - Newton and Ridley delivery man! That was quite short lived and Vernon forgave her and Liz and Vernon got married in December 2007.

Rosie Webster has had a fling with her teacher, John Stape - who was dating Fiz! That caused a big furore, as Kevin hit John, and then went to jail for 2 weeks for it.

Roy Cropper just got back from Mozambique where he has been visiting his wife Hayley who is a volunteer out there.

Maria is pregnant by Liam Connor, and Liam's sister in law Carla is jealous and has tried to come between them. Liam got hurt on a recent trip to the Lake District with Maria, and called out Carla's name when he was drifting in and out oof conciousness! Despite this Maria still agreed to marry Liam!

Oh, and Leanne is getting bored running her restaurant! And Chesney is starting to really struggle at home with no mother or father there.

Probably much more that I have missed out.

Wonder where we'll all be at when this thread ends?!

Honestly I get unreasonably invested in layouts of houses on soaps. I was the same on neighbours, it’s not something I say out loud a lot!!

As well as the weird layout changes (that they think none of us will notice,) I also wonder where Joshua's bio father is (Matt was it? The doctor.) He had this agreement to see Joshua once or twice a month I think? Not seen him for about 2 years.

Clurr is cutting off her nose to spite her face putting the house up for sale with an agent. It was a done deal with Kevin and Sally, although Clurr and Sally kept putting a spanner in the works!!! Even if she (and Ashley) wanted to just sell it to Kevin and Sally now, they would still have to pay the full fee to the estate agent.

Oh yes dr matt! Completely forgotten about him!
on the house subject, did I really hear it correctly that the difference of price between the two houses was 5 grand? Can’t remember now with all the faffing they’ve done since. Just seems a tiny amount considering one house has an extra bedroom, a garden and conservatory

No sally and Kevs house is worth £98,000
And Clurr and Ashlehs iis worth £123, 000
Which is five grand less than Clurr thought ,and they keep squabling abour subsidence and fixtures and fittngs ,and its all rather tedious and dull.

Plus I don’t think Josh ever sees Grandma Doreen does he and wouldn’t Ashley always be talking about Maxine with him?

In Classic Corrie, Mary hasn't come in to it yet, she comes into it in late 2008, (November/December,) but here's what I found out...

She lived in a campervan that she parked in the street for a few years. (2009 to 2014-ish.) She came into it in 2008, and didn't really have a place of residence for a short while.. So she lived in her campervan that was in the street. Then she lived with Dev for a little while around 2015/2016 (looking after the twins) ... Then I think she lived with Norris for a while, and now AFAIK, she lives in Eilieen's old house (I think George lives there too.) People hop about all over the place in Corrie don't they? 😆

Where has the Post Office counter gone in The Kabin?

Oooh, yeah, I forgot about that. I had a root on the internet about this too..

The Kabin Post Office, Coronation Street.

Location: Inside The Kabin, usually near the counter area.

History: The post office operated from roughly 2000 to 2010.

Current Status: Following the tram crash storyline, The Kabin reopened in March 2011 without the post office facilities.

So it hasn't been there since 2011! I didn't realise!

The Kabin still has the Post Office signage clearly displayed outside.

You'd have thought they would have got rid of that when Norris's name was added to the the sign 🤔

Becky is getting on my nerves, hanging off Jason like a limpet, chewing his face off, and stroking and hugging and caressing him, and turning up every five minutes even when he isn't expecting her/hasn't invited her. No wonder Jason is fed up of her, and rolling his eyes at her. Anyone behaving like this around me would be binned to be honest. She's so over the top and needy. No-one wants someone like that. What's wrong with her?!

Dan telling the police that Steve left him in the cellar to die! Now Steve has been arrested. Steve did go way too far though. Bloody Norris though, what a little shit. Not fessing up to scratching Steve's car. He is mostly responsible for what happened to Dan, and him ending up in hospital!

Becky is so annoying at the moment. Yes, Norris should have just owned up because it was an accident. Dan asked Steve very nicely to not park there because it was blocking the pavement and then we get a stupid feud instead that put Dan in hospital and Steve arrested

I don't think they explained why Dan had to have his spleen removed.

Here's what I found on CoronationStreet Fandom.

On 4th June 2008, Norris Cole scratched Steve McDonald's car. Steve was outraged and blamed Dan for what happened. In retaliation he stole Dan's mobile phone from his car and refused to return it unless Dan paid the damages bill. Dan protesting his innocence and refused. A fight in the Rovers Return resulted in Dan accidentally elbowing Steve in the eye whilst attempting to retrieve his phone. Steve threw Dan's phone down the cellar and locked him in the alcohol cellar overnight. During his ordeal Dan began to suffer chest pains - the cause was a ruptured spleen, which had to be removed...

It seems odd that Dan would have 'chest pains due to a ruptured spleen' unless he tumbled down the steps and ruptured it. So he either had a previous injury to it that hasn't been mentioned, (and maybe the panic and stress of being locked in the cellar caused more trauma,) or he fell down the steps in the cellar and ruptured it then (which is possible, as I think he tumbled down the steps in a panic after being locked in.) It's pretty much always a physical injury that causes a ruptured spleen.

On another note, it's kind of nice to see Carla and Leanne building some bridges.

I assumed the spleen was damaged during their scuffle, Steve pushed Dan when they were on the bar area and Dan fell against something quite hard. Dan seemed to be clutching his arm and chest before he went down the cellar stairs so that seems right to me although I’m not an expert on how spleens get damaged!

I think Becky had just been so starved of love and affection in her life that she doesn’t know how to have a relationship. She’s found someone who seems to like her so she’s gone all in, way too strong for most people, but I actually feel for her

How the hell did they get Dan up those stairs on the trolley 😂

I thought they might have used the cellar drop door but if they had one it would have been in the middle of Ken and Deidre’s living room

Also it should have been cold down there, you wouldn’t lock anyone in there for a couple of hours let alone overnight
