CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in March 2008.

Wow soooo much has happened since the last thread was started - almost a year ago... We were in June 2006, and now we're in March 2008.

Keith was still in the street then, (who was dating Audrey,) and had just been booted out of his house by Charlie Stubbs. Now Charlie is dead after being killed by TracyLuv who is in prison now, and is never seen!

Les Battersby left in 2007 after going to work as a roadie with a band.

Ronnie was in it (Steve's girlfriend at the time) and was trying to set Steve up for a hit and run she had done. And Lloyd had just joined. Streetcars.

Mike Baldwin had just died. (Early 2006.)

Leanne Battersby and Mike's son Danny Baldwin were still together (after he left his wife Frankie for Leanne.). And in late 2006 Danny's son Jamie Baldwin (who was dating barmaid Violet Wilson) started having an affair with Danny's ex - wife Frankie... (His stepmum!) Obviously Violet finished with him.

Now Jamie has just left the street with Violet, (after they made it up,) with a baby she has had with Sean Tully. (Sean and Violet were platonic friends.) Sean is distraught that they have left, and he doesn't know where they've gone.

Janice and Cilla were at each others throats, but now Cilla has gone - to live in Las Vegas, leaving poor Chesney with Kirk and Fiz.

Amber had just arrived back then - Dev's daughter, and now she's part of the furniture!

Ashley was fighting for the right to keep Joshua after his bio dad Matt said he wants him. They had a court order for Matt to have access, but Matt has hardly been seen since!

Poor old Fred Elliot has died! (October 2006.) He was just about to marry Shelley's mum Bev too. Ashley's butcher shop is starting to have problems. (Financially.) Bev and Shelley are no longer on the street.

And now we have Tina McIntrye who only came into Corrie a few weeks ago, and is with David Platt, and currently pregnant by him!

The Mortons joined not long ago, and have the kebab shop, and new owners of the bookies have surfaced. Father and son. (Harry and Dan.) Both currently sort of dating Kelly Crabtree and her long legs! But Dan is starting to have eyes for Leanne.

Jason and Sarah got married in late 2007, but it didn't last long, after Jason saw Sarah as spoilt and selfish, and uncaring (after her brother David ran his car into the canal and she only cared about her wedding.) David was offered a job with his uncle Stephen (In Milan,) and Sarah tricked Stephen into thinking David was a drug addict, and she had the job instead! (David had had some drugs a little while back that Bethany had accidently eaten, so Stephen believed Sarah.) Jason and Sarah have now split and Sarah is now living in Milan with uncle Stephen, and she's taken Bethany with her!

Vera Duckworth died very suddenly just a few weeks ago, leaving Jack devastated. His grandson Paul - and Molly and Tyrone have been consoling him. Although Paul did just steal £3000 off Jack via a betting slip that Jack had lost and Paul found. So he takes after his father - Terry!

Big Jim McDonald came back after trying to stop Elizabeth (his ex wife Liz) from marrying Vernon. The slightly-annoying-and-ever-so-bonkers-but-still-nice-and-stable musician she has been dating for a while (on and off!) They were dating for a while, then Liz had an affair with Derek - Newton and Ridley delivery man! That was quite short lived and Vernon forgave her and Liz and Vernon got married in December 2007.

Rosie Webster has had a fling with her teacher, John Stape - who was dating Fiz! That caused a big furore, as Kevin hit John, and then went to jail for 2 weeks for it.

Roy Cropper just got back from Mozambique where he has been visiting his wife Hayley who is a volunteer out there.

Maria is pregnant by Liam Connor, and Liam's sister in law Carla is jealous and has tried to come between them. Liam got hurt on a recent trip to the Lake District with Maria, and called out Carla's name when he was drifting in and out oof conciousness! Despite this Maria still agreed to marry Liam!

Oh, and Leanne is getting bored running her restaurant! And Chesney is starting to really struggle at home with no mother or father there.

Probably much more that I have missed out.

Wonder where we'll all be at when this thread ends?! Grin

Yes, if you do miss any episodes then if you can they are repeated the next morning or if you missed today’s, it’ll be Monday morning

Steve was awful to Becky. She had no choice but to be honest with Amy. I suppose Steve would have lied, like he always does to buy himself time - see how he lied to Michelle instead of coming clean.

x2boys · 02/10/2026 21:32

Im failing here to see what Becky has done that is so wrong ?
A child in Amys class told her ,her mum was a murderer and she asked Becky if it was true
What was she supposed to say?
As an aside the child that plays Amy has beautiful hair
All the actresses around her seem to want brush it and i can see why!

Exactly. I don't understand why Becky didn't lead with 'a child at school told Amy her mum is a murderer, so I had to gently explain the truth to her.' She just said 'I told Amy her mum is in prison, and is a murderer and so on...' She didn't explain that someone had said it to her first.

I suppose they needed to set the scene for another problem in their relationship, so conveniently set it out as if Becky had just grabbed Amy and said 'your mum is a murderer...'🙄 A bit annoying.

And yes to @thenightsky Steve was quite mean to her yes. He wants her to look after Amy when it suits, (or Liz or Deidre and Ken, anyone but him really,) and then has a go at Becky when she does something he doesn't agree to, and acts like she's not even family/not Amy's mum etc. Well, she is a mum to her at the moment. If he's going to use her for free childcare for HIS daughter, he needs to accept what Becky does and says.

Steve pisses me off. I kind of like him, as he's funny, and he has a good personality normally, but he treats women like shit. He used Michelle as a free barmaid, and mum to Amy, for around 2 and a half years, and within DAYS of Michelle leaving, he'd moved Becky in, as the new housewife/mummy to Amy. Michelle is well out of it.

I felt nauseous seeing Jason and Julie getting down and dirty together. 😬 Actual vom! 😱

Agree and i actually think Becky was quite Gental in saying although Tracey had done a bad thing it doesnt make her a bad person.
Amy might beleive Traceys in a special hotel for now but as she gets older she will ask questions

Why have they brought back that awful character, Daryl’s mum?? Is her name Theresa?
She is utterly pointless and I can’t bear seeing her on the screen and fast forward through her every scene.

I couldn't agree more. She is absolutely vile and I was so glad when she left. I did a massive sigh when she popped up on the screen again. 😖

I am also a bit tired of the old cliché that happens so often in soaps/drama/on TV in general; women being nasty to the wives and girlfriends of their sons. Always making mums of sons look nasty. Pisses me off. And I have daughters! It pisses me off because my own mother in law thought the world of me, and was lovely, and my 2 DD have men who have lovely mothers too! And my own mum got on well with my brother's wife and thought the world of her. So this 'mother in laws hate their daughter in laws' thing on TV so much irks me!

I also don’t like Theresa and yes, Jason and Julie was very awkward. I wonder when the truth comes out?

Yeah she makes Cilla look like mum of the year!

I can't fathom Tony out.

What was that emotional panic attack all about when he was at the hospital and discovered Maria is going to have a boy?

Does he actually feel guilty about what he did to Liam?

He was in bits in that hospital corridor, and then perfectly composed five minutes later to take Maria home again.

And don't get me started on that ridiculous private detective!

He was about as subtle and covert as a brick.

Lurking around in his blue Renault, with the most noticeably big camera you've ever seen!

It's sad that Classic Corrie is gradually morphing into Current Corrie with all the daft storylines ☹️

thenightsky · 04/10/2026 15:39

I think the enormity of what he did to Liam caught up with him when he saw the scan and found it was a boy.

And yes, here come the ridiculous story lines of modern corrie.

I think they are trying to show hes not a one dimensional charchter and although hes deeply flawed he does have a conscience
Much like Charlie
Who was a terrible person most of the time but saved sunita and Dev from burning to death
And sorted out the man that was bullying Roy.

Hmmm!

I honestly don't know what to make of him.

Is he attracted to Maria?

Warning Tom off like that makes me wonder.

The Dev and Tara storyline is too silly for words!

And how old is Julie supposed to be?

I don't get her character at all. I never believed in her relationship with Kirk.
She looks like she's in her late thirties.
Hope that doesn't sound unkind.

Maybe that's just the hairstyle and clothes?

I wouldn't have thought Jason would have wanted a fling with her, especially given the storyline coming up next week 😲

I'm glad Becky is back. I really like her.
The way she deals with life makes me wish I could've been just the same when I was her age.

x2boys · 04/10/2026 16:07

I think julie is supposed to be early 30s her mum had her at 14 and i think Eileen had Jason at about 21 /22and jasons supposed to be 25 which would make julie 32/33?
But yes she does look older .

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 04/10/2026 16:20

Just googled Katy Cavanagh, who played Julie.

She was 36 in 2009 when she was in Corrie.

Not being unkind, but I've always felt that she was miscast for that role.

Just didn't look right, somehow.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 04/10/2026 16:37

And, ooh yes!

Bloody Audrey sticking her neb in where she had no right to be sticking it!

It's not like she's ever been close friends with Deirdre.

Why is she being so sanctimonious?

As others have said, she's not exactly had a blameless past, has she?

I'd have thought she would have more sense than to meddle in someone else's relationship, outside her own family, that is.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 04/10/2026 17:09

Also, I'd love to know the logistics of Carla leaving to go to America.

When she fled from the confrontation with Tony in the factreh, did she drive home and pack her bags as quickly as possible, and then drive to the airport?

Or is her car still parked outside her flat on The Quays and she got a taxi to the airport?

Maybe her car is in the long-stay car park at Manchester airport.

Tony hasn't seemed very bothered about finding out where she's gone - or how she got there!

This is why I can't weigh him up...🤔

SabreIsMyFave · 04/10/2026 20:44

Have to agree with Julie and Jason not fitting together well, and as I said earlier I cringed when they started smooching, because I thought she looked old enough to be his mum! 😬 I thought she was about 40-42, and Jason was early 20s? She is 36 though, so not really a million miles off 40-42 I guess.

Also think Tony has fallen for Maria, and is trying to get rid of Tom. Poor Tom, I feel sorry for him... I think Tony did have the panic attack as the enormity of having Maria's baby's father hit him...

And yes to Audrey being nosey and sticky-beaky! And acting like her shit don't stink! Ken trying to make things work with Deidre now, when his heart is with glamourous boat lady.

And where the hell does Peter get off lecturing his Dad about marital fidelity!

Did being bigamously married to Shelley and Lucy count for nothing?

He can hardly take the moral high ground, can he?

Are we, as viewers, supposed to just forget these things?

JenniferBooth · 07/10/2026 17:05

Eileens father is fucking vile

Isn't he though?! Rita would have to have rocks in her head to stay with him. What a horrible, arrogant, narcissistic, sociopath he is. 'You NEED me Rita, you LOVE me...' And 'she (Julie's mum) was gagging for it with her short skirts, throwing herself at me, and she was totally complicit in our us having sex etc etc...'

She was 14 and he was nearly 40! 😱 He called it a mid life crisis! Having sex with an underage girl! Statutory rape is a mid life crisis?!!! A mid life crisis is spending £35K on a Porsche, or dying your grey hair, and getting your teeth whitened!

He can't see anything wrong in what he's done.

Gruesome vile man.
