Wow soooo much has happened since the last thread was started - almost a year ago... We were in June 2006, and now we're in March 2008.

Keith was still in the street then, (who was dating Audrey,) and had just been booted out of his house by Charlie Stubbs. Now Charlie is dead after being killed by TracyLuv who is in prison now, and is never seen!

Les Battersby left in 2007 after going to work as a roadie with a band.

Ronnie was in it (Steve's girlfriend at the time) and was trying to set Steve up for a hit and run she had done. And Lloyd had just joined. Streetcars.

Mike Baldwin had just died. (Early 2006.)

Leanne Battersby and Mike's son Danny Baldwin were still together (after he left his wife Frankie for Leanne.). And in late 2006 Danny's son Jamie Baldwin (who was dating barmaid Violet Wilson) started having an affair with Danny's ex - wife Frankie... (His stepmum!) Obviously Violet finished with him.

Now Jamie has just left the street with Violet, (after they made it up,) with a baby she has had with Sean Tully. (Sean and Violet were platonic friends.) Sean is distraught that they have left, and he doesn't know where they've gone.

Janice and Cilla were at each others throats, but now Cilla has gone - to live in Las Vegas, leaving poor Chesney with Kirk and Fiz.

Amber had just arrived back then - Dev's daughter, and now she's part of the furniture!

Ashley was fighting for the right to keep Joshua after his bio dad Matt said he wants him. They had a court order for Matt to have access, but Matt has hardly been seen since!

Poor old Fred Elliot has died! (October 2006.) He was just about to marry Shelley's mum Bev too. Ashley's butcher shop is starting to have problems. (Financially.) Bev and Shelley are no longer on the street.

And now we have Tina McIntrye who only came into Corrie a few weeks ago, and is with David Platt, and currently pregnant by him!

The Mortons joined not long ago, and have the kebab shop, and new owners of the bookies have surfaced. Father and son. (Harry and Dan.) Both currently sort of dating Kelly Crabtree and her long legs! But Dan is starting to have eyes for Leanne.

Jason and Sarah got married in late 2007, but it didn't last long, after Jason saw Sarah as spoilt and selfish, and uncaring (after her brother David ran his car into the canal and she only cared about her wedding.) David was offered a job with his uncle Stephen (In Milan,) and Sarah tricked Stephen into thinking David was a drug addict, and she had the job instead! (David had had some drugs a little while back that Bethany had accidently eaten, so Stephen believed Sarah.) Jason and Sarah have now split and Sarah is now living in Milan with uncle Stephen, and she's taken Bethany with her!

Vera Duckworth died very suddenly just a few weeks ago, leaving Jack devastated. His grandson Paul - and Molly and Tyrone have been consoling him. Although Paul did just steal £3000 off Jack via a betting slip that Jack had lost and Paul found. So he takes after his father - Terry!

Big Jim McDonald came back after trying to stop Elizabeth (his ex wife Liz) from marrying Vernon. The slightly-annoying-and-ever-so-bonkers-but-still-nice-and-stable musician she has been dating for a while (on and off!) They were dating for a while, then Liz had an affair with Derek - Newton and Ridley delivery man! That was quite short lived and Vernon forgave her and Liz and Vernon got married in December 2007.

Rosie Webster has had a fling with her teacher, John Stape - who was dating Fiz! That caused a big furore, as Kevin hit John, and then went to jail for 2 weeks for it.

Roy Cropper just got back from Mozambique where he has been visiting his wife Hayley who is a volunteer out there.

Maria is pregnant by Liam Connor, and Liam's sister in law Carla is jealous and has tried to come between them. Liam got hurt on a recent trip to the Lake District with Maria, and called out Carla's name when he was drifting in and out oof conciousness! Despite this Maria still agreed to marry Liam!

Oh, and Leanne is getting bored running her restaurant! And Chesney is starting to really struggle at home with no mother or father there.

Probably much more that I have missed out.

Wonder where we'll all be at when this thread ends?! Grin

I missed a couple of months episodes, but just about caught up.
Casanova Ken in his kimono with her from The Colbys, and poor Drearie waiting at home with Moussaka in the oven.

Lol
Showing my age but thats the first thing i thought of Sable Colby 😂

oh that was brilliant. I had a huge crush on John James who played Jeff Colby! He was gorgeous.

Liz is absolutely vile to Becky. Michelle is too but she has valid reasons for being hurt and lashing out angrily. Liz doesn't and seems to forget that the pub belongs to Steve. She has zero empathy and can't see that under Becky's hard, brittle shell, she's really vulnerable. The Croppers see that, but they have some depth to them, unlike Liz who's thick as mince.

Showing my even older age, I think of Stephanie Beecham as being in Tenko. (I know Roy's mum Stephanie Cole was in it, too)

Iremember watching it as a child on a sunday evenning when we only had 1 TV.

thecatdidit · 05/09/2026 16:02

@x2boys I was still living at home but was in my late teens/early twenties when Tenko was on. Me and my lovely mum used to watch it together 😊

Yes Liz is pissing me off too. She is a cow to Becky. Basically she hates any woman who comes near her precious Steve, assuming they're all out for what they can get and calling them slappers and trollops and the like.

It's such a bitchy-mother-of-sons cliche, you never get them (or rarely get them) portraying mothers of daughters like this. They're nothing but sweet to the daughters boyfriends. The mothers of sons are often nasty to their son's girlfriends on Corrie. (And other dramas/tv shows.)

Liz was horrible to Karen, to Tracy, to Fiona (the hairdresser,) to Michelle when she first came into Corrie, and now to Becky. Such a predictable cliche of a storyline. She hates Becky - shocker. As I said, she hated Michelle, and now Michelle and Liz are best friends. 🙄

I did laugh though, at Liz's sourpuss face, when Becky and Steve made it up in the end and planned the wedding for 2 weeks time.

I remember watching Corrie together with my lovely Mum back in the 1970s.

Those lovely days when Elsie Tanner was there, and Gail Potter was knocking around with Suzie Birchall.

And Stan and Hilda lived at No13.

My Mum died in 1983 - I miss her every single day.

Yes Ivy and Gail were the same
Gail was never good enough for our Brian
And Gail has never been keen on either Nick or Davids girlfriends/ wives.

@WheresThatCatGoneNow @eggandonion , so sorry to hear that you both lost your mums at such a young age 💐

My mum is in her mid nineties and living with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia in a nursing home. She was an amazing mum and I miss her being there for me, I visit her very often but she isn't really aware who I am sadly. She often asks when her own mum and dad will be visiting, it's so sad 😢

TennisWithDeborah · 06/09/2026 16:31

Tenko is worth a rewatch. I saw it again during lockdown. Such a quality drama. Based loosely on the memoirs of one of the characters who survived. I won’t say which one because it’s a spoiler given a number of them obviously didn’t.

The two-part follow-up set in the 1950s was excellent too, with a surprising “twist”.

Both Stephanies are wonderful in it. The woman who plays Dr Patel occasionally in Corrie has a role too.

OMG, yes!

I remember Ivy being an absolute nightmare to Gail when she was married to Brian.

And an even worse nightmare when Gail was getting together with Martin.

Although, I remember quite heart-warming scenes when Ivy looked after Martin when he was poorly in bed with chickenpox.

Anyone else remember that?

@WheresThatCatGoneNow @eggandonion , so sorry to hear that you both lost your mums at such a young age 💐

It's heartbreaking, isn't it?

Dementia is such a cruel disease.

I suppose my Mum was lucky to have been spared that, dying at age 51 from lung disease (not cancer, asbestos related)

I cared for my Dad from 2012 for eighteen months at home - 24/7 just me alone.

It was exhausting, but I'm glad I did it.

He was 80, and succumbed to vascular dementia.

I won't go into details, because it's too painful, but weren't we so lucky to have our parents?

We should remember them with 💕 love.

eggandonion · 06/09/2026 22:04

Lucky to have lovely parents and no good way to lose them.
So many Corrie characters have lost a parent or both parents 😒

SabreIsMyFave · 08/09/2026 21:34

So Tina crumbled and couldn't lie in court. Good for her. Gary did hurt David badly though, so should have had some kind of punishment. If they'd told the truth from the start - and David has said 'yes I threw the first punch but Gary nearly killed me, and he heavily provoked me' it would likely have been a different story. Gary would possibly have been punished for how badly he hurt David.

Isn't it just amazing how the people in Coronation Street just seem to bounce back after life-changing traumatic events?

If I had ever been sent to prison, or had someone murdered in my living room, I would be a total nervous recluse, suffering from PTSD.

Even being kidnapped, or driven into a freezing cold canal in an attempt to murder my whole family, would have a lasting effect.

But, no!

People just aren't affected by these ordeals, seemingly.

Oh well, we obviously just have to suspend belief 🤔

What do you all think?

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 09/09/2026 14:44

I enjoyed Anna Windass rocking up, totally squiffy, at Gail's back door with a can of lager in her hand.

Debbie Rush is quite a good comic actress.

justthecat · 09/09/2026 17:59

Sophisticated Ken and his amazing scrambled eggs, somehow I think Deidre wouldn’t make them that way

SabreIsMyFave · 09/09/2026 18:08

Agree @WheresThatCatGoneNow !
