Psychological thriller The Stolen Girl had Disney+ (https://www.disneyplus.com/en-gb) users captivated in 2025, and now, thanks to Disney+'s partnership with ITV, the popular drama is arriving on ITV next Wed

Starring Denise Gough and Jim Sturgess as Mrs and Mr Blix, the couple live out every parent's worst nightmare when their nine-year-old daughter is kidnapped after a sleepover, leading to some secrets from the past to come to light.

What is The Stolen Girl about?
The Stolen Girl is a physiological thriller adapted for TV from Alex Dahl's 2020 novel Playdate.

The official synopsis says: 'Elisa Blix, an air hostess on private jets and busy mum of two, allows her nine-year-old daughter, Lucia, to go on a playdate with her new best friend Josephine.

Elisa briefly meets with Josephine’s warm and friendly mother, Rebecca, and the playdate evolves into a sleepover.

But when Elisa and her husband Fred arrive to collect Lucia the next day, their worst fears are realised.

'The house is an empty luxury rental and Lucia has vanished, along with Rebecca and Josephine.

The police say everything Rebecca told Elisa may have been lies.

As events escalate into an international manhunt for Lucia, pursued doggedly by Selma, an ambitious and determined investigative journalist following the story, long-buried secrets come to light that may hold the key to Lucia’s seemingly motiveless abduction.'

The Stolen Girl is made up of a strong cast, including The Capture's (http://hellorayo.co.uk/greatest-hits-radio-70s//entertainment/television/the-capture/) Holliday Grainger, Who Is Erin Carter? (http://hellorayo.co.uk/greatest-hits-radio-70s//entertainment/television/who-is-erin-carter/) actress Denise Gough, and One Day's (http://hellorayo.co.uk/greatest-hits-radio-70s//entertainment/television/one-day/) Ambika Mod.
Check out the main cast below:
Denise Gough as Elisa Blix
Holliday Grainger as Rebecca/Nina Thibault

Rebecca/Nina does seem to care for the child at least. And she killed the man who helped kidnap her. Didn’t understand why she went back to an area where she’s known.

Elisa, killed someone, child not her husband’s, grew up in a commune. Lot of information to take in.

@butterpuffed you still watching ?

Still watching, thought it was quite good until Rebecca killed the kidnapper, wrapped up and tied him then dragged him away , all with the children presumably able to hear everything .

I missed part of the scene when Elisa went to visit the man in prison . I don't want to watch it again, as too many dramas on , do you have one of your recaps @Blondeshavemorefun ?

butterpuffed · 19/03/2026 09:16

Ah , found one but don't know how to transfer the link in here for others who may want it . It's in Review Geek .

I've watched this through to the end but would've stopped if Holliday Grainger wasn't in it. I think she's really good and have watched her career ever since she was a mere tot in "All Quiet on the Preston Front. I loved that series. I found the Elisa character totally insympathetic and the actrress playing her intensified my dislike. I can't really account for this. I stopped watching "All Her Fault " even though I think Sarah Snook is a wonderful actress. The series was far-fetched nonsense. "The Stolen Girl" was a bit more rooted in possibility but apart from Holliday Grainger, the acting was mediocre..

Thank you 😀

Re names - I'd no idea people pronounced Lucia loo-see-a, I've always said
loo-chee-a

Clawdy · 25/03/2026 14:51

Me too, always said Loocheea. Italian pronunciation.

Seems so

So does that mean there will be a s2 as Rebecca and Josie are still missing

6yrs so outin 3

I feel sorry for Marcus who took the blame - went to prison and his son lives with Fred so he gets double nothing

and all this happened as Elise drove off panicked after killing dad pushing him down the Stairs due to perving at Lucia and abusing her as a child

if he accepted the blame then , none of this would have happened

Agree totally.
I could not engage with the actress playing Elisa. The plot was utter tosh.

Thunderpunt · 30/04/2026 13:20

So as normal I’m about a month late to the party on this one (well on all of them, I have so much to catch up on and not enough blooming time!)
Agree with the comments about Elisa not being particularly likeable, or Fred for that matter. But Nina and Selma were great. Plot was pretty shite but I was happy to continue with it…and I wonder if the door has been left open for a second series? Nina still on the run after murdering Matkovic, Fred raising 2 kids, one of which is not his own, and Mark (?) Turner possibly coming out of prison before Elisa could come claim George.
All in all, quite enjoyed it and am glad it was over just 5 episodes. I’ve often moaned that they drag these things out too long, but this cantered along just right Grin
BTW in case you’re wondering why I bother to come back and write anything seeing as I’m always so late to it, so I can’t join in as the program goes along with the rest of you, it’s to remind me whether I liked something first time around if there’s a second series 🤣🤣🤣

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/04/2026 23:03

I think there will be s2

😂😂😂

its rare a series isn’t a one off if good

place your bets now. This will have another series by 2030

I think there are quite a few good series that have been left at one!
