Sorry to hear your DH has joined the injured foot camp Jane. I was proud of myself today because I managed a successful hobble to the post office, which is about 100 metres away.

I'm not really sure what's gone so wrong for Stef. It's easy to blame his dysfunctional family, but he's had that family for his entire career. He just seems to have completely lost confidence in his game, and I'm honestly not sure if he'll ever be back.

ChessieFL · 15/04/2026 14:27

It’s a shame about Stef as he was doing really well a couple of years ago and you would expect him to still be up there challenging - but he isn’t.

kazzaD66 · 15/04/2026 16:53

Jamie Murray has announced his retirement. Nice video tribute from Andy posted on SM by the ATP, LTA and BBC Sport, amongst others, with his usual humour at the end Grin

IceandIndigo · 15/04/2026 17:26

Yes I saw that about Jamie. Tbh I thought he was already pretty much retired.

Carlos has withdrawn from Barcelona with a wrist injury. Hopefully it's not serious.

Raahh · 15/04/2026 18:00

I was confused by the Jamie Murray announcement, assumed he already had retired.

It's a shame about Carlos- I hope it doesn't affect the rest of the season- hopefully this is just a precaution to prevent things getting worse.

Raahh · 15/04/2026 18:06

Rafael Jodar had a good win against Ugo Carabelli. He is on a steady march up the rankings.

IceandIndigo · 15/04/2026 18:15

Maybe a Spaniard can still win Barca! A Spanish player called Rafa, it seems… fitting.

It would be great. Grin.

Raahh · 15/04/2026 18:30

Quinn having a total nightmare serving for the set against Norrie, now it's back on serve.

Looks like Mirra Andreeva might win her match- last time I looked ,she was in trouble against Ostapenko.

JaneJeffer · 15/04/2026 19:42

Well done Norris. Quinn played some great shots.

Goody is having a dance Grin

I missed Goody!!

Ethan is good- but he does seem to get nervy in the crucial points, the double faults at all the wrong times really cost him.

Well done though Norris. (but I missed the end Grin

JaneJeffer · 15/04/2026 20:01

One thing I like about Norris is that he makes sure whoever he wants to give his towel to gets it and he doesn’t just fling it randomly. There was a middle aged couple trying to grab it off the kids Angry

Raahh · 15/04/2026 20:47

t annoys me when there are fights over towels. It really makes people look pathetic. For the most part, if you can afford tickets to these things- you can afford a towel (although I appreciate it won't be covered in Norrie sweat).

JaneJeffer · 15/04/2026 21:03

He only gives clean towels Grin I think Iga has the right idea Grin

Raahh · 15/04/2026 21:15

Iga 'The Towel Thief' still makes me laugh.

StartupRepair · 15/04/2026 23:20

ADM seems to have lost his speed which doesn't leave him with a lot. Hope it is only temporary.

IceandIndigo · 16/04/2026 16:33

Just tuned into Lore vs Corentin, it's really fun.

An amazing match, that really for Mussetti to break Moutet 's serve was ridiculous. Glad Moutet's antics didn't put Lore off. Mother is fun to watch though. Well done Lore and a great fight Mouet.

Fizzywinegum · 16/04/2026 16:51

Well done lore - good to see him get a win - wish that I’d seen more of it

kazzaD66 · 16/04/2026 17:05

I see RBA has announced this is his last season. Not unexpected. So that's him, Stan, Gael, Goffin and Keith all retiring this year. Gael is having a party at RG, to be live streamed, I think Grin
Glad that Stan has been given a wildcard. Unusual for the French to give them to non Frenchies but it would have been outrageous if they hadn't, as a former champion. Not sure Wimbledon will follow suit Hmm

I was afraid Corentin was going to get himself disqualified!

It’s the end of an era

Really pleased that they’ve given Stan a wildcard - hopefully he’ll reprise the famous shorts!

I think Wimbledon are a bit stingy with their wildcards so maybe not

Raahh · 16/04/2026 18:14

I have missed most of today- kept up with a few scores. Another shopping trip to town with DD2. Will be glad when she's back in school Grin

Glad to see Lore is through- it would be great if he could win the whole thing, he's been unlucky in finals (but he's got to get there first).

There are a lot of retirements this year- and yes, it's good that Stan has a WC for RG, after Domi Thiem didn't get one the other year (I know he didn't win it but he had a great record there).
It would be nice of Wimbledon to give Stan a WC- but I can't imagine they will. Wimbledon tend to bend rules to suit themselves though (like seeding Serena after her mat leave).
There were rumblings she could be back for Wimbledon, which I am really hoping are just rumours.

I was sad to see Joe Salisbury lost his doubles match- but the petty side of me was relieved to see the Neal and Christian did too Grin.

kazzaD66 · 16/04/2026 18:50
Grin Me too Raahh I want Joe and Neal to play together again and think there's more of a chance if they keep losing in their respective partnerships. Childish, I know. I also know there's probably no chance of them teaming up again, so I should just root for them anyhow. But I don't like Harrison...
Raahh · 16/04/2026 19:03

kazza I'm the same- I don't think Joe and Neal will get back together, but I really don't like Christian much (for no real reason, if I'm honest).

I would like Joe to get a partner he can win again with. Probably a bit soon to ditch Francisco.
