Onwards. I mean backwards.

That’s bad enough but there’s also this:

“Soap bosses are also exploring the possibility of shorter digital-based spin-offs, which could see characters shift in and out of the main shows.
"We're talking about things like micro-dramas, vertical dramas," MacLeod said. "Is there any other parallel IP we can generate with a different set of characters, that feeds into and out of the main show? That will, we hope, engage a slightly younger audience and maybe drive those younger viewers into [the main soaps]?”

It sounds horrendous!

JewelleryCat · 19/02/2026 22:11

I don’t think we need that and it won’t engage a younger audience. How young are we talking about? The storylines right now in both aren’t suitable for children imo and do teenagers/early 20s even watch soaps anymore?

Teenagers don’t want to watch a load of old fogeys. If they want teenagers to watch they need to stop killing off/imprisoning/disappearing the actual teenagers on the show and do some decent stories which don’t involve drugs, violence or pregnancy.

CherryogDog · 20/02/2026 10:01

I'm not keen on the youngsters storylines, but can't be worse than the rubbish they're currently churning out.
Nearly everyone is lying, never mind Corriedale, I want a Silent Witness Dale so Nicky and Jack can sort out everything in two episodes max.

Myrealnameisbetty · 20/02/2026 11:09

Help me understand Graham. He creeps around in his very much out of place dark suit and tie get up with a face like he's just eaten a mouldy boiled egg and he's barely able to raise a smile (apply that to most of Emmerdale characters these days) yet some of you appear to love him.

What the hell am I missing?

Perplexed of the North x

RaraRachael · 20/02/2026 12:34

Dear Perplexed of the North.

I used to really like Graham in his first appearance - there was something moodily attractive about him. Now I find his a bit ridiculous tbh.

BooseysMom · 20/02/2026 12:54

Graham is vile imo. His weird voice and dressing like an undertaker for no apparent reason. Dare I say it, I would prefer Marlon over him and that's really pushing the boundaries!

JaneJeffer · 20/02/2026 12:57

I like the way he lets his eyes do the talking

Yes he's a brilliant eye actor.

bizzey · 20/02/2026 13:12

His out burst of love to Rhona (ro ro !!) was completely out of character though.

Don't done which scriptwriters decided to throw that in there ...just to try and show Marlons macho side !

His suit wearing was mentioned by Joe a few episodes ago .

When Graham wasn't wearing suits.

Graham overheard it ..went off ..and promptly came back from a shopping spree wearing his trademark suit !

I did like when he stormed back in to Home Farm and sullenly said ..

Talking is so overrated !! 😁🤣🤣..

(It was after his silly declaration of love to Ro Ro !

Dear Perplexed of the North

Graham is the only one that has any influence over Joe. He's very much Joe's better half. I think he will be some part of Joe's downfall which I am very much looking forward to.

In his first stint on Emmerdale he showed a very tender and caring side both in paying for Sarah's heart treatment even after evil Joe had conned Debbie into loving him resulting in an awful reveal and he also had a very sweet relationship with Rhona and got on like a house on fire with Leo. When Graham 'died' everyone was devastated. Graham is starting to show his caring side again with his sympathy for the Sugdens and the Dingles and his declaration of love for Rhona. He's a bit like Severus Snape in that respect of still being in love with Rhona after all this time.

The only thing I don't like about Graham being back is his constant insistence that Kim is the devil. Since Graham, we have very much seen Kim's softer side with her wanting a family around her, her friendship with Lydia and the fact she's getting on with most of the village. Now we are constantly being fed the line that Kim is making Joe bad etc etc which is very far from the truth. Joe has always been bad. What he did to Debbie was horrendous and Kim had nothing to do with that but Graham was there every step of the way.

I liked his declaration of love to Rhona. It wasn't out of character as he and Rhona were wonderful together before his untimely 'death'. Kim was most put out that he fell in love with Rhona as with Kim he was always businesslike but with Rhona he truly adored her and Kim hated that he wasn't like that with her.

Myrealnameisbetty · 20/02/2026 13:30

@PrincessScarlett

Thank you for that info on Graham. I vaguely remember he was in Emmerdale a few years ago but couldn't recall the full story line. So he had a good side him!

I have to say though he gets top award for the most miserable looking man ever on telly. He does it well 🙄

bizzey · 20/02/2026 13:32

I don't think Graham would want to split up the family after all they they have been through.

Not right now.
So his declaration is mis timed.

Maybe in a few years ??...👀👀👀

PrincessScarlett · 20/02/2026 13:43

@bizzey yeah his declaration of love was a bit mid timed after everything Rhona and Marlon have been through. But at least he's set the seed!

I think Graham gets on so well with Leo because it was revealed when he was with Rhona that he had a brother with downs syndrome who died. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh and you may or may not know. He used to be a raging alcoholic before he came to Emmerdale. Was drink driving and killed his wife and child. That explains a lot of his miserableness and coldness. Then Joe kind of saved him and he became a father figure to Joe.

That’s right.

It makes me laugh how he keeps badmouthing Kim but he’s still staying rent free in her house 😆

Despite there being empty home farm cottages that he could live in

TellingBone · 20/02/2026 14:17

Graham could buy Tall Trees off Marlon and get Rhona chucked in as a makeweight

That would be a low key, inconspicuous car for thick Debbie to steal.
