If HIGNFY isn’t funny any more, what is its function?

Is it to remind us of a happier time when it did used to be funny. And are we just not ready to let that go?

I watched it on catch-up. So much better this week. Not even for being edgy, but just for being in safe hands.

Martin Clunes has always been good on it, and is a lovely guest host. And they were all so beautifully dressed.

Janet Street Porter is also someone I like to see and like Clunes, has been on it for almost as long as it’s been on.

Phil Wang is one of my favourite comedians and looked as though he was enjoying being there, too.

Maybe it worked because everyone was so comfortable with each other on it.

Three cheers for half an hour of good tv that didn’t feel like watching somebody’s nightmare audition tape.

That’s exactly it - it was safe hands this week with banker guests. Classic old-school comedy. Enjoyable.

Not edgy anti-establishment though.
