Did anyone watch this earlier?

Watching this took me back to my GCSE years when Eternal was just emerging as one of the main British girl groups of the 90s.

I thought Mel Blatt appeared very down to earth, and her account of her experience as a young woman in the music industry particularly pop culture, was very interesting. She and Shaznay had already formed All Saints many years before "I know where it's at" became a hit.

There are a couple more episodes, which will end with 2010s onwards, but I will save that for another time.

I don't think anyone was 'forced' to have an abortion. I imagine they told them if you take a year off to have a baby when you come back no one will care. Pop isn't a 'normal' workplace, you get a moment and you have to seize it, or not.

I didn’t say abortions were forced, I said they were encouraged. Which was clear from the show.
I agree that there’s a chance if you take time out, fashions and tastes move on. But really, isn’t it more the case that it’s inconvenient for the record company to have one of their money makers temporarily unavailable?

Haven't watched it yet, but was glued to 'Bananarama at the BBC' that was on straight after
The Pebble Mill performance was brilliantly funny but somehow worked at the time 😂

Cutting edge 80's pop 😍

It was an interesting watch, but like PP am very puzzled by the complete omission of GIRLS ALOUD who were a perfect example of a girl group in the relevant time frame. OK if they didn’t want to be interviewed, but surely they could be mentioned??

i really like melanie blatt, i liked her on the race across the world. She’s very down to earth

Most of them look very worked on. Considering they’re pretty much all still under 50, lots of them look a lot older.

odd that girls aloud were missing but possibly because nobody associated with them would speak? They needed a manager or producer if no members wanted to feature

I read somewhere that they thought it would be disrespectful to talk about their experiences without Sarah.

Enjoying watching this. I love that Pure Shores song. It sounds so unique

I do remember teenage pregnancy being a massive deal at the time. Girl group members were pregnant on stage, and teenage pregnancies seemed to be spoken about all the time. The town close to where I lived had the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe

Girls Aloud won’t make new music as they feel it’s disrespectful to Sarah because she can’t be part of it. I saw them live last year, they were phenomenal and their tribute to Sarah was lovely.

I just watched all three episodes, it was so well done, I forgot how cool Melanie Blatt was, such brilliant bands.
