Anyone watching?
I can't decide if I want to watch this year or not.

OP posts:
lazarou · 11/06/2008 12:42

What exactly was Alex's argument? Was she saying that because food is so important in the house that it should be cooked properly, or was she saying that anyone who can't cook shouldn't? What was wrong with chips? I missed a bit of it.

poshwellies · 11/06/2008 12:45

if you can bear it....

TillyScoutsmum · 11/06/2008 12:45

The chips were burnt apparently (and Sylvia told Becky later that they thought she had done it on purpose so that she appeared dippy on tv - WTF ??!). Alex took great issue with it and basically decided that only Rex should cook (never really got to know what he thought about it) and it sort just spiralled in typical BB style from there....

I wonder about her daughter...who is looking after her while she make a holy show of herself on national telly? Does Alex believe this is a good example to set her? Or does she think in her tiny mind this will make her famous and then she will be set for life?

poshwellies · 11/06/2008 12:51

I wholeheartedly agree notjust-she is vile

Bobbiewickham · 11/06/2008 13:27

Can I just say, dirtysexymummy, that I find your comments about "finding albinos scary" ignorant and offensive in the extreme.

Ditto the other people on this thread who chimed in with similar wisdom about people with albinism.

I am amazed to see this bigotry on Mumsnet.

As the mother of a completely gorgeous eight year old boy with a form of albinism that affects his eyesight, I'd like to chime in with my opinion that my son is delightful, brave, mature, tolerant and fantastic.

Not in the least bit scary. Unlike some of the silly women on this thread.

Shame on you.

Alex has some serious issues. She's a toxic, controlling and bullying individual.

I'm sure her family are very proud of her.

anniebear · 11/06/2008 14:38

Bobbiewickham , well said

although I havent read through the comments yet, I can more than understnad you would be hurt by any comments made

Molesworth · 11/06/2008 14:43

Bobbiewickham, I did mention Darnell's albinism (that I assumed the condition made his eyes very sensitive) - I do apologise if this was ignorant or offensive. I don't know anything about the condition, and may have made a silly assumption. I certainly don't find people who have this condition scary!

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 14:46

BW - I apologise if I have upset you, my comment was certainly not intended to be offensive, obviously, and I apologise if you have taken it this way.

It is actually a genuine fear I have of albinism, there was a boy at school with albinism and he was an evil little boy, and I was very scared of him and I presume this is where my fear came from.

I have no doubt that your son is a lovely boy, at no point did I say I don't like people with albinism, I said I had a fear.

Its not bigotry, bigotry is an intolerance of someone who is different to them. I do not have an intolerance, I have a fear. I would never discriminate anyone for the way they look, ever. Its very different and I am not bigoted.

Again, I apologise that you have taken my comments the wrong way.

WenchConnection · 11/06/2008 14:52

I think channel 4 do some amazing programming, however watching The F Word last night when it's all dumbed down , staged for the cameras and with shitty sound effects , hell it reminded me of 'The Simple Life' It was that braindead, then big brother, why would they put people in they know are so aggresive, they just want the press coverage.

pastapestofor6 · 11/06/2008 15:18

was very shocked at

"how can an albino think he is black"

of COURSE he is black,if his parents/family are,
very strange comment and shocking in the year 2008 imho

pastapestofor6 · 11/06/2008 15:20

you have a 'fear' of albinos???

dsm i think you should be ashamed of yourself
if you said i have a fear of black people that would be considered bigotry...would it not

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 15:34

When I made the comment about thinking he was black, it was before BB had said that he was black. So, we did not know then that he was a black albino.

I think they tried to make it look like he was doing an 'ali G' type thing. Pretty low of Channel 4 to do so, IMO.

Eventually they showed a clip of him explaining that he was in fact, black.

I apologise again for the fear, however I can assure you it is not bigotry, and not something I choose either. I have quite a few irrational fears, and believe me, it is not pleasant and not something anyone would choose to have

Tillyboo · 11/06/2008 17:30

Before I start I am NOT a bigot or rascist or anything else but I had a very frightening experience when I was young with an albino person and it has always stayed with me. I wasn't hurt or anything like that, it was just the situation I encountered albinism for the first time

You cannot choose what you fear whether it be pigeons, sandpaper, people with red hair, spiders, feathers or indeed albinos (human or animal form).

I haven't read the whole thread but just thought I'd contribute.

Can I also just say that I hope Alex sits and reflects on her behaviour. She's a horrible person and why sooo angry ?
If that was me being attacked by her I think I'd have decked her and then said 'Boo You'.
I was absolutely livid watching her. I don't think I have been that angry for a very, very long time.

A pathetic group of blokes to not step in and say 'That's enough'. Perhaps Mario would have done had he not been in bed ?

Raahh · 11/06/2008 17:40

i hope there are no more task based nomination threats- i much prefer it when the housemates choose for themselves. On the basis of Alex's behaviour, even if bb doesn't intervene and boot her out, hopefully the rest of them nominate her.

lazarou · 11/06/2008 17:42

They need some decent looking blokes in there as well, and preferably ones that aren't devoid of any personality.

Dale 'Yeah, im like really good at reading body language. Basically if you sit with your arms folded and your legs crossed, well like that's not a good sign.....'

bunch of tosspots, the lot of them. I will still watch it though.

noddyholder · 11/06/2008 17:44

This programme is hideous and the sooner we boycott this mindless drivel in this country the better. It promotes and rewards everything that is bad in society

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 17:45

Thanks Tilly. It's nice to have someone else understand. Fears are not nice things to have, especially when they are irrational.

I also agree with you about Alex. She is horrendous.

Her daughter is 7yo. She will be fully aware of what her mother is saying and doing on television. I think it is really sad, I would hate for my children to watch me behave like that (not that I would).

lazarou · 11/06/2008 17:46

Can't disagree with that. Apprentice final is on tonight, can't wait.

Chickenmamma · 11/06/2008 18:23

Ooh its actually quite good this year. I might continue watching

I utterly loathe Mario. He's so slimey

Alex is beyond the pale but Sylvia is pretty sneaky and sly

I'm liking Rachel, Kat and Darnel atm
