Backlog of 9pm series recorded but not watched - any of them worthwhile

Partly because I was making use of a streaming service sub running out, and being really disappointed with the 9pm slot series (apart from Blue Lights - just brilliant) not sure whether to delete all, or watch some.

And the one line descriptions dont inspire.

If anyone has time, would you recommendation any of these:

Coldwater
The Guest
One Night
Under the Bridge
In Flight
The Narrow Road
Bookish
Insomnia
The Last Anniversary

Thanks

gave up on the Last Anniversary and have not come across any of the others you mentioned.
Department Q was good
The Newsreader was good

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/10/2025 08:44

oh also the Narrow Road was very good also.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/10/2025 08:45

I didn’t finish The Last Anniversary and haven’t watched the others!

Another vote for The Newsreader. And I liked The Girlfriend too, I think that might be on Prime though.

IwantToRetire · 14/10/2025 18:40

I never recorded the Newsreader. I thought it was something I had seem a while ago.

I had realised the Narrow Road would be a difficult watch, but also the story line seems very close to a film (or maybe it was a documentary?) I watched a while ago. But my memory is not to be relied on!

Just finishing Riot Women tonight (assuming I can find time) so will need something for tomorrow.

Thanks for comments.

The Newsreader has had 3 separate series, so you have probably watched an earlier series. It should all be on iPlayer.

I've got most of these taped too, yet to watch.

I didn't get on with Bookish- too slow.

Under The Bridge is definitely worth keeping and watching. Based on a true story

Coldwater was fabulous. Laugh out loud crazy. My husband didn’t agree 🤨

Dippythedino · 18/10/2025 23:13

I'm a bit late to the party but just started watching Stranger Things in Netflix, it's very good. Winona Ryder is very good and this show showcases her incredible acting skills.

Ratafia · 18/10/2025 23:55

Also try The Diplomat, it's very watchable.

I am very grateful for this thread.

But am now beginning to think I have formed some sort of aversion and so far have managed to find films to watch.

Which with a tired brain that forgets plot lines have been quite good.

Just came back to say I have now watched Under the Bridge.

I nearly gave up as everyone was so unpleasant, but only realised after 2 episodes it is based on real events. Sad

So then I felt I couldn't not finish it.

And have a soft spot for Archie Panjabi.

Everyone goes on about how social media is influencing today's young people in negative ways. This series showed that even without social media, young people can turn bad.

It was so well done
