I find it irritating too although quite enjoyed it last night. dh refuses to watch it as he cannot abide Dr Winston and finds the 'experiments' completely absurd

Potty1 · 26/01/2005 12:11

Liz - there were two short straws and a longer one, plus the scissors and it was an experiemnt about taking risks. lol at the litle one who put the scissors down as the fourth side - showed initiative

Dd (11) shouted out about the loos straight away - she says no-one likes school toilets....can't remember being particularly bothered myself!

Lizs I was a bit churned up as well, DH says why are you making that face? and I said, they are all so small! but really I was thinking of DD like yours, 4 in the summer and then startign school in sept, in her little uniform, [sniffling emoticon]

I thought that was strange too ks - does that mean we can't praise a child for doing well in something even if they are naturally good at it?! So my ds1 is pretty good at swimming, he just is - do I just ignore it or am I allowed to say 'well done on getting your next badge'?!?!

Also, just done that test today where you put the cross (child) surrounded by concentric circles and get the child to put mummy, daddy, siblings on it. Apparently if they put you next to their cross they are close to you and the further away they put it the less close to you they are. Oh dear, me, dh, ds2, ds3, nanny and grandad were all outside the concentric circles! Hmmm, ds1 comes to me for hugs and kisses and tells me he loves me though!!

What a load of rubbish!!

Gobbledigook · 27/01/2005 17:51

Mind you, ds1 is 3.10 not 5 yet, does that make a difference?

Might see what he does with a straw and a pair of scissors later!

majorstress · 28/01/2005 16:08

YES there is a big difference in comprehension of symbolic things like this concentric circle thing, between under-4s and over-4s, he probably thinks you're nuts.

majorstress · 28/01/2005 16:09

But he loves you anyway!

I'll forget again by then!

I just scrolled all the way down to the bottom of this thread, impressed at the number of posts it had got in a day, and then realised my error! LOL

What's on tonight then? and when's Desperate Housewives back? And why can't I remember to buy a TV Guide?
