We like this in our household, but I do think it is trending into quirkiness plus a dash of undatables. Not commenting on any couples in particular, but it makes me glad I have not gone down the tweakments route. A lot of those that have look distinctly odd, and in a lot of cases may well put off their dates. I think you have to spend a lot of money on these to get it right, and even then….

Thanks for alerting me to this thread - I've paused it for now as was a bit confused how I felt about episode 8. Going to have a walk and will be back to watch the rest as he's only just told him. I can't understand how he didn't know - I knew but assumed he had specifically asked for a trans woman...clearly not.

It's becoming more like the C4 shows about swinging and sex-tuplets for sure. I don't know if I want or need to see behind those curtains to be honest! First time I've ever had to switch off in an episode and wonder what I am watching. I hope they don't ruin the only "old fashioned" reality show!

When they've done the transgender reveal before, it's been obvious that the date has said to the production company that they are open to transgender. I assume that the date said the same thing when applying as well. Or at some point in the application system

I mean - he could have punched him or anything. I think it's very unfair on national telly as he would get death threats and all sorts if he had shown any negative reaction at all. A long way to travel too!

The production company ask you whether you’d date anyone who’s handicapped, trans sexual, gay , blind, deaf , and ask your age range ( which they ignored in my case)
despite the posts on the internet saying otherwise, there is no helpline and very little in aftercare for the contestants

I haven't posted here for self promotion , but was trying to warn anyone considering going on to the show to be very carefull

the answers to questions broadcast on the episode were edited in a way to give a totally different answer to ones I gave
one question I wasn't even asked and I'm not sure if the answer shown is AI generated or merely the editing of other questions to give dialogue for the show.

Since airing, I ve been approached by 5 different strangers in the street and on trains, basically saying oh I saw you on the TV, they never showed you in a very good way did they, you come across as such boring old man.

I don’t believe anything I see ok TV.

i appeared on last weeks episode
The editing has made me look completely different to the person I thought I was.
I suffered a TIA ( mini stroke ) a month ago and I ve had old friends phone me to ask if it was filmed after the stroke concerned as to my mental health as they did not recognise me form the way I was portrayed.
One thing which has concerned me was.
I ordered an Apeol Spritz, ( Prosecco, Aperol and soda water)
I saw Merlin pour Gin into the glass, sort of under the counter so that I couldn't really see him do it.
Thinking he was a "famous' cocktail bar man , and not wanting emo]barass myself by asking what he was doing , thinking may be there might be a "Sicilian ' version with Gin and not wishing to look ignorant I said nothing.
during the meal I had another glass of wine, at the dnd of the meal I never felt drunk, but felt id had more to drink than I thought I had
Cut a long story short , I had enough complained about the Gin being added,
I ve had an email response telling that as I watched him do it they can see no reason to complain, I asked what if I have an allergy to gin, ( which I haven't drunk for 42 years) well we asked if you has an allergies
What about spoiling drinks/ well you saw it.

I watched this episode and thought you came across nice! Very thoughtful with the flowers, attentive asking if she was cold, etc.

You mentioned people recognised you in the street and said you were not portrayed well? I don't know why any one would say that to be honest.

I think you might be dwelling too much on it.
I thought you seemed nice! And authentic, very sincere.

There was a "tumbleweed" moment when you both had differing opinions on travel.
Tbh it does my head in when people ramble on about how great travelling is.
My belief is, "everywhere you go, there you are".

Very sorry to hear about your stroke, and hope you are keeping well

Regarding the travel comment
what I actually said was
i like Italy particularly Tuscany for the culture food and wine
i prefer city type breaks as
living in cornwall, surrounded by beaches I have no interest in beach holidays
they edited it to give a totally different answer
