Sky Cinema - Oppenheimer

Not sure whether this is a summer offer or somehow I signed up to Sky Cinema via Virgin Media.

Most films look really boring and then I say they were showing Oppenheimer.

And remembered there had been all this positive buzz about it.

I didn't last half way through. Thought it was just terrible.

Unless you like or are attracted to Murphy cheek bones.

Plus of course that film audio recording just do not work on run of the mill tv even if they have good speaker attached.

I normally watch my tv on somewhere between 12 - 16.

On this film I had it turned up to 30! and it was still like they were whispering in the distance.

Surely with streaming now such a big part of film distribution they should be able to provide a sound track that works with tvs.

All this high tech production and you have to put on sub titles.

Thanks for letting me share!

Must admit this is the only film I’ve watched on my own at the cinema as I think it needs the full effect

there was a moment in the cinema during the showing

I tried watching it but gave up about halfway through. I really wanted to like it but was so bored.

I had real problems with the audio in the cinema. The final line of dialogue, which I’m assuming was pretty crucial (between Oppenheimer and Einstein), was completely inaudible.

Totally agree.

How did this ever get such good right ups.

I was quite excited to be able to watch a relatively recent film as going to a cinema is just so complicated now (travel) and expensive.

That's interesting.

I just assumed that somehow the cinema audio which is now quite complex had somehow got squashed or mangled to be suitable for tv transmission.

Dont any of these film makers care?

Surely they can afford to get someone to watch a version via tv, and one if cinema, to assess how audible it is.

Can never understand why actors dont complain.

I am sure they are working really hard to be convincing and say the lines in a moving way. And we're all sitting there going, why dont they stop mumbling.

(And as I use the "can I hear people talking in a studio setting" as the yard stick to work out is it my hear, is it my speakers, to know it isn't.)

How really strange in this day and age film makers cant achive this simple taks that old fashioned boom(?) microphones could.!
