To feel sorry for Brody (Homeland)

I'm rewatching Homeland for like the third or fourth time. Still picking up bits that I must have missed the first few times round.

Did anyone else just feel really sorry for Brody?

I mean first he's captured, tortured, broken, manipulated and brainwashed and then returned to the USA.

When he tries to refuse to go along with the 'plan' he gets beaten up in a supermarket carpark and kidnapped again

When the CIA finally find out about him they try to use him to help them by turning him into a double agent (surely they should have recognised the deep mental problems he had and got him pychiatric help and support)

Then when the Langley bomb went off he was subject to a manhunt even though he hadn't done it.

Then when they knew he hadn't done it they still wanted to use him to go and kill the leader of the iranian rev guard

Then we he did that for them rather than rescuing him like they said they let Jivadi know his whereabouts so he could capture and hang him to 'prove' his leadership.

I mean seriously - the guy started off as a family man and US marine and was just used and abused by both sides. No-one really tried to get him help or recognise what had been done to him.

Ok, ok I know that would have been very boring tv but still I can't help but feel sorry for him.

DL did an excellent job though of potraying him though.

What did you love about Homeland.

I wasn't keen on the whiney teenage girl although I get what they were trying to potray.

I thought CD did a really good job too showing the vunerability of someone with BPD and how they take rejection badly/ personally and how they get very intense/obsessional about things.

I want to watch it again but still have bad memories of high blood pressure and twitchiness on a Sunday night before work on Monday. It was so stressful. I fancy Saul though.

I’m on my third time too. I love Brody, and everything about it really. So we’ll written.

Rewatching this now and on season 2. Was surprised to see that the vice president's son was a very young Timothy chalamet, I didn't realise that he was in it, but I guess he was an unknown at the time so why would I

I think they were going to kill off Brody but then they realised he was very popular with viewers so changed their minds.

For me it's all about the acting performance. Damian Lewis is understated and carefully paced. Clare Danes is full on and overstated. I struggle to empathise with her character and feel she fails to master her craft as an actor and/or is over directed.

Not long after we watched Homeland, we watched Designated Survivor with Kiefer.

LOVED IT!!! But then I’m liking the more mature KS than in his youth.

I am watching again and realising how bloody annoying Dana is!
