omg I thought I was the only one who thought about this shit. I have been fascinated with this book since I read it in school in the late 80s. I should have made a movie/ series out of it. My sister and I are both going to be Martha’s or aunts. Martha’s for sure if there’s a decorating organizing niche for me and she can do all the cooking. Or an aunt but I won’t be mean just secretly supportive and trying to protect the young girls as I will probably be separated from my own dd who will definetly be a handmaiden. Not naming anyone maybelline or L’Oréal tho. My sister does live in Texas so she may be exempt from the life. I think about this book everytime I put on hand lotion….the luxury of lotion

Gay snd infertile would definitely send you to the colonies for being a gender traitor.

Pre-fall, I’m probably closest to Commander Lawrence in terms of career. Despite my potential to be useful, since I’m an older woman of unlikely use for procreation, I’m fairly certain that means straight to the colonies for me.

I've never been married and have 4 dc so I'm guessing I'd be a handmaid for at least a couple of years. I am almost 36 though so I'm guessing my handmaid times would be short!

I think I'd be a handmaid as an unmarried mum. But pcos means Fertility issues so might not last long before I went to the colonies.

If I had a choice I'd be a Martha, but I don't think theyd want me as I'd be a sinner in Gilead.

Not specifically mentioned but I’m Jewish so I imagine it’s off to the colonies. Too old for more kids and I’m a rubbish cook so can’t see much else they’d want me for anyway. I have a 12 year old daughter so I know where she’d be heading… 🤮

Civil partner, not husband, which is probably frowned on. And we chose not to have kids.
I have a physical condition that means I can't do much scrubbing/chopping/stirring, so would be a useless Martha.

I think I would have been an econowife. Married with three children. To be a wife my husband would have to be a commander and I really don't think he would be OK with that. I hope we would both be working for Mayday.
